Heard on NPR this morning: NHS and Brits are getting peeved at US batshits trashing their system |
|
They did quite a little segment on how the US Moron Party is trashing the NHS - and about what a fine, working system it is - and how many Americans (the non-Morons) want our health system modeled after theirs.
IF the US was "smart" it would do so. BUT - they aren't - they're dominated by a minority of lunatics.

2. I've wondered what the effects were |

Canada and the UK are trashed all the time by the know nothing party when it comes to healthcare and I wonder what the effects are like to people in those nations. Nothing wiser than trashing some of our strongest allies because they provide everyone with decent healthcare for half what we pay for our system.

The NHS isn't what it was before Thatcher weakened it, but it's still LIGHT YEARS ahead of having to depend on insurance companies for everything.
My mum told me about a conversation with a friend who some year ago was successfully treated for early cancer at the Royal Marsden, an NHS hospital, and one of the best cancer hospitals in the world. Her daughter-in-law in America has just been diagnosed with a similar form of cancer, and, while it's now being dealt with and hopefully she will be OK, her experience with the medical system was nothing like as good - a lot of the conversation was about the contrast between the systems.

6. I know. I've been reading the posts here too and was happy to hear the NPR piece |
|
this morning.
Not that I think it will thump the cement-laden heads in the US hard enough to make a dent but it's still something to hear.
Thanks to you guys for speaking out - all of you.

10. They talked about that on the segment! |
|
Believe it or not. It was an immensely positive segment in favor of nationalized health care.

15. It often is - and increasingly often.... |
|
..it's rare that they have anything that isn't, frankly. Just a day or so ago, I posted about their calling the wingnut batshits "angry citizens" - when it's clear that they are astroturf.
That's another reason I was surprised to hear this segment this morning.

16. Without angry citizens, astroturf doesn't materialize... |
|
...You've got to have the boots on the ground. You think the generals are going to put themselves on the front lines as cannon fodder?
It's obvious the ignorance of these citizens is manipulated to the point of anger. That's what astroturf does best. One is not necessarily mutually exclusive of the other.
Look at Katy Abram. She is obviously emotional and misinformed.
