2. I don't know what stores are "non-republican." |
|
I suspect that most of my students will get all of their supplies at the super walmart. :(
First of all, it's the closest store to the rural area that I teach in. Second, the only other local option is a Fred Meyer, and they are not only 5 miles further into town, they cost more than walmart.
The closest other choices are 20-30 miles away.
I'll get my grandson's school supplies from an online school supply company. I have no idea if they are "republican" or not.

4. I never thought of an online school supply. I was going to get what I can at Costco and |
|
whatever else at a Barnes and Noble. I think I'll check into an online supply store and see if I can find a blue one.

6. How are you checking to rate "blueness?" |
|
My current little district doesn't keep a supply warehouse for teachers; they give us a budget, and we buy our classroom supplies out of catalogs.
I'd like to check our most frequent suppliers.

7. The only way I can - political donations. |
|
I am sitting here with great discount cards from stores, but, they are ALL heavy GOP donors - Staples, Office Depot and OfficeMax.

8. Costco is known to donate to Democrats while WalMart is Republican |
|
Any Smart business IMO does not advertise it's politics. I know Kroeger is good to it's employees though and that is usually an indication of their politics.

19. I love Costco I get things from there whenever possible. |
|
But I have to stick to paper goods and other non perishables because I can't possibly eat the food before it goes bad.

10. No kids, but I will be shopping at Costco for supplies to donate to schools in a rural TN district |
|
where I do some consulting. I noticed in the local paper that they were asking anyone in a position to do so to donate school supplies to be distributed among those in need. I know it is an area that has been very hard hit economically, but I hadn't thought of doing it until I saw the request. Some of you might like to do the same in your own communities, even if is just picking up a few extra items while you are doing your back-to-school shopping.

16. We're pretty low income, so WalMart. BUT |
|
we've gotten way better over the years about what HAS to be new and what can be recycled. There's just no need for new everything, especially once they're past elementary.
Oh, and I did make a point of buying US-made goods if at all possible.
