I’ve had it with self-righteous fanatics who claim to be the “real American patriots.”
I’ve had it with every Sunday morning roundtable dominated by three wingnuts to one sane person.
I’ve had it with the endless lies that are bought by those who can’t or won’t read, think, or reason.
I’ve had it with corporations who are milking us dry, paying for non-stop propaganda, and destroying our country.
I’ve had it with those who show up at town hall meetings in order to shut everyone up and shut the meeting down.
I’ve had it with bigots who can’t tolerate a black president, a Latina Supreme Court justice and any and all “Thems.”
I’ve had it with “blue-dog” Democrats who are Republicans in Dem costumes.
I’ve had it with thugs who are called politicians, or lobbyists, or corporate titans.
I’ve had it with the cowardice of liberal politicians.
I’ve had it with not having one goddamn clue as to what to do about any of these things.

1. The townhall crazies have a vote equal to everyone else |
|
its worth remembering when we wonder why America doesn't do what we want.

3. You have to admit, one day was very impressive. |
|
Lots of bright enthusiastic people all going to the polls for one day to make American what they think it should be.
The rest of the days, not so much.

but that doesn't give them the right to deny to any one else access to information or an opportunity to ask questions. Their 'vote' lost and they need to accept that.
Too bad this administration isn't treating these town hall brown shirts the way we were treated by 'their' vote stealers,

I agree with most of your sentiments. But I was feeling the last line the whole time I was reading it.

4. Nice Guys do not win. I sound cynical, I say I am a realist. |
|
Everyone assume the Liberals Progressives will just be nice and not cause any problems so they can be treated just any old way.
To watch all the hullabaloo, one would think the GOP won the election.

7. I've had it with people claiming to defend a constitution they have never read. |
|
I've had it with the cries about what the "founding fathers" would have done from people who couldn't name three of them.

8. First, stop watching television. |
|
Everything you see on TV is usually available on the net somewhere. I prefer to read rather than watch TV or youtube. I find it leads to a beneficial lowering of blood pressure.
After that, you can make plans according to your personal tastes.
Me, I'm gradually going off-grid. I plan to ignore the impending train-wreck.

I know what you mean, but you (and all of us) will be lucky if parts of the wrecked train don't fall right on your head.
We're really in trouble if these bastards can't be stopped.

17. If the train wreck gets to me... |
|
...then truly everything will be gone. I'll be so far out in the wilderness, requiring so little from society, that I'll be among the last affected.
Of course, that's assuming I've planned correctly and suffer no freak accidents. :)

9. Make a conscious effort to communicate your views on such matters w/others in real life |
|
Many have a very difficult time with doing that since the preferred mainstream discourse largely excludes informed views on BIG issues, and instead favors M$M-induced 'soundbite reality.' What happens with many people from that point is to be wary and/or ignorant of any heterodox, dissenting view, illegitimizing it based on a cultural sense of familiarity with only the corporate propaganda. So within that type of social climate it's important to find and use your voice. Truth, and an earnest attempt at unearthing it, is contagious.

11. I think the real problem is information overload. |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-13-09 12:12 PM by MindPilot
for us not so much because we here on DU and liberals in general tend to be a little smarter and better educated than the wingnuts, but it affects us all.
Used to be Walter or Dan told us how it is every evening; we read a newspaper for a more in-depth look and a local perspective. But now for better and worse those filters we relied on are gone. Now we all have to provide our own filters and frankly most people are not very good at it.
We find somebody to be a surrogate filter, it may be Glenn Beck or Rachel Maddow--and please lest anyone think for a moment I'm comparing them, I am not--but there are very very few of us who can effectively venture out to the intertubes and find, filter and assimilate our own information.

You know, for me it all boils down to time-wasters. These are the hypocritical, corrupt, obstructing liars who hog up the radio and TV airwaves and government and corporations and who often KNOW they are not doing what's in the best interests of U.S. citizens. Truth, fairness, justice move oh, so slowly and in that time people truly suffer. And in many cases, die.
It truly challenges one's sanity, doesn't it?
I have a little post-it I look at daily that helps a bit:
The definition of STRESS: the confusion created when one's mind overrides the body's basic desire to choke the living daylights out of some jerk who desperately deserves it.

14. I loved the retort (Was it Jon Stewart's?) abt giving that woman her country |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-13-09 01:27 PM by truedelphi
Back.
"Give her back HER COUNTRY? HER COUNTRY?
She should try selling that to the Indians!"
On edit: it was Jon Stewart's "Black media commentator," Larry who made the remark.
