Right Wing Terrorism Watch - Police in standoff with man who made threat against White House
Edited on Thu Aug-13-09 03:27 PM by ck4829
A standoff between a motorist and Los Angeles police is occurring at the Federal Building in Westwood.

A law enforcement source told The Times the suspect allegedly made an unspecified threat against the White House and that the U.S. Secret Service was involved.

(Updated at 12:16 p.m.: Police evacuated apartment buildings near the Federal Building's parking lot as we as some federal offices. A robot equiped with a camera was placed next to the car so that officers could get a sense of what was going on inside. Veteran Avenue has been closed.)

The incident began with a pursuit through parts of the Westside and ended at the federal building, where LAPD and UCLA police officers blocked the vehicle, KTLA News reported. KTLA chopper footage showed numerous police vehicles parked at the federal building and in nearby side streets.

Details about the incident are still sketchy. The Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Ruben de la Torre said the case involves a felony warrant and that one apartment house next to where the suspect's car is parked is being evacuated as a precaution.

1. It is still going on
I can hear the helicopters overhead. Not much on the news in the past 1/2 hour. Channel 5 has periodic updates but not much that is new.

2. That's just great,
just effin' great. This is getting to be pretty terrifying. I'll just bet all those so-called "patriots" are so very proud of themselves.

Damn, I'm almost more outraged now than I was when Bush-the-Moron was in power, and I didn't think that was even possible. What the hell is wrong with people? :scared:

8. don't assume. Granted lots are wingnuts but the worst are the Ron Paul...
Alex Jones fans. They are usually independents or don't vote at all. They just hate on everyone.

9. It's not an assumption. It's an Odds Are Prohibitively In Favor guess...
Yah, it *could* be wrong. Like I *could* flip 100 heads in a row with a balanced coin.

Man that guy took four cannisters of teargas and a heavy blast of pepper spray and still didn't come out. that was after he spent over seven hours sitting in the car with the windows up. No explosives except for some firecrackers found at his house.

Be interesting to see what this wingnut's story is.

Really weird, not one word of coverage anywhere but KTLA. I guess the M$M doesn't much give a shit if a guy threatens to blow up the whitehouse.
