This has been a PR nightmare for the White House and Congress - the insurance companies couldn't wait to loose the hounds to chase Democrats around the countryside.

2. Actually, I think showing the right for what they really are, to the public
at these hearings, has been quite effective. I know an awful lot of Repubs who are embarrassed and are now calling themselves Independents...

3. But this is pretty much how the Nazis got started in Germany
They bullied their way into every facet of society (not just government) and took over by default at the next election.

This cannot be allowed to happen here.

5. Its not really like he had a choice
POTUS can't make the laws . . . well, except for the 8 years preceding Obama.

8. He has the "bully pulpit"
Bush used it at great length during his tenure in office. I think Obama needs to learn to use it, too.

He could start by telling Sen. Reid to cut the crap.

7. But actually I think the opponents are the ones making spectacles of themselves
and it doesn't look good to independent voters.

10. Of COURSE he had a choice - he could have leaned on Reid
But he didn't, and that helped put our nation in the shape it's in now.

14. I said this would happen exactly this way, but I was told here on DU "what's the hurry?"
:eyes:

On the positive side, the Republicans have no real arguments at all and there's no reason to change anything about the bills. Oh, maybe the counseling could be removed, but that's a very minor detail - pretty much a joke. Republicans have no answers.
