I donated $100 on behalf of Debbie Schlussel to No More Deaths. I suggest you do the same. |
|
Story: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x6299534#6299652Reason for the "On behalf of" part -- read and be mad: http://www.debbieschlussel.com/6825/walt-staton-gets-what-he-deserves-for-helping-illegal-aliensDonations link: http://www.nomoredeaths.org/index.php/Information/donate.htmlI suggest you do the same. If you find other right-wing pundit who was as nasty as Ms. Schlussel about this matter, feel free to use that name instead. (And provide us a link.) Wouldn't it be great if that latest act of RW evil resulted in a shitload of money going to NMD?

Come back from the edge. I like reading Christopher Hitchens too. But I take the message with a grain of salt.

6. I am one of the most firebrand atheists in DU. Sometimes I out-Dawkins Dawkins. |
|
And yet I recognize a worthy organization when I see it. Unitarians are notoriously tolerant of atheism, for fuck's sake.
Deaniac's restrictions are, to say the least, intriguing.

10. No, Unitarian Universalists are not just Christians. I've known Wiccans and Jews to |
|
attend meetings.
They believe in the teachings of Christ but don't necessarily consider him divine.

I'm a long time agnostic and I don't regret any of the time I spent at the UU Church I went to growing up. If there's a more compassionate religious group out there, I don't know of it. And the sermons I attended were actually informative rather than preachy. Aside from all that, I don't care who is behind a particular organization if the cause they support is right. This group is doing a very good thing, xian or not. They should be supported.
