What if the current debate was about climate change instead of health care reform? |
|
Would the crazies complain as much? Because that debate will be coming. We have more than one mountain to climb.

3. Oh yeah. But no more than this compromising health bill |
|
The thing the Dems haven't fully figured out is that the Republicans turn it up to 11 NO MATTER WHAT. I don't know how they should respond to that fact however. Maybe people will get wise to it all and get sick of the noise those guys are making.

4. The Neoliberals on DU would be siding with the people who want Pollution Credits. |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 01:35 AM by Leopolds Ghost
And the Republicans would be demanding we do nothing at all and funding circus acts to distract people enough so that the Overton window is shifted noticeably to the right and get the Dems to do the Republicans' work for them by advocating the "Green Market" Conservative position on the issue. Other viewpoints on the subject would quickly be banned as the air is sucked out of the room; Michael Moore would come out and denounce people who oppose pollution credits as useful idiots for the opposition, and say it's the only way to eventually fund a carbon free economy as the coal plants wither away on their own. Next question.

5. They'll do the same thing when that debate comes. |
|
They'll lie. They'll simply make shit up. The media won't call them on it, being content to report both sides of "the controversy."
Until facts once again matter to Americans, it's likely that what we've seen in the health care "debate" will repeat itself again and again.
Not a pretty picture.

6. Wouldn't matter...... because it is NOT about Health Care! |
|
It's about Obama.
If Obama were proposing legislation to recognize the cuteness of puppies, they'd be attacking just as hard.
It's about discrediting the new (black) President. Doesn't matter the subject. If he proposed it, it must be fought.
Just look at how hard they tried to kill the wildy-successful cash-for-clunkers program. If it has Obama's name on it, they want it dead.
