Arne Duncan Teams With gingrich And Al Sharpton
Sharpton I can deal with, but that pus gut gingrich?

http://www.cleveland.com/nation/index.ssf/2009/08/al_sharpton_newt_gingrich_push.html

Here's a little gem:

"Gingrich applauded Obama for showing "real courage on the issue of charter schools." Obama wants to increase the number of charter schools, which have a controversial history and are a divisive issue for his party's base.

Charters get public tax dollars but operate free from local school board control and usually from union contracts, making them a target of criticism by many teachers' union members." Cute.

4. I Loathe the Guy,
but unfortunately the ideas he espouses are becoming the rule in public schools throughout the country.

In a way I am glad my district illegally sacked me. Public education is going down the drain. All by design, of course.

8. So they can pay us the same wage as a Wal-Mart greeter?
Fire us when a mouthy parent complains? Fire us when a whack-job principal decides he doesn't like the color of our shirt?

9. Has Duncan, Newtie, or Sharpton ever taught in a K-12 public school?
No. Deafening silence. WTF do they know about it? Once one has taught in a K-12 public school and had the responsibility for that class's achievement and well-being, they have credibility. Until then, they're just talking out their butts.

Arne, Newtie, and Al: Go do the job before you try to tell me how to do mine.

11. My view of charter schools is that they are simply unnecessary.
The view that a school must be privately run gives us a an image from the other side of the spectrum, an image that our current system is too regulated, too inflexible, too bureaucratic, to be able to function in a way that create great results.
