9. Phil Donahue should be rehired
and given Imus's slot.

That will convince me that MSNBC has learned something from this.

19. No somebody new
There's plenty of new talent out there.

Phil is a great intellect, but he's getting up there too. He can stick to books and maybe a special now and then. I want fresh blood on TV. Sorry.

13. No,
and don't get me wrong he needs to go. It just seems that there are other more important things going on right now. Of course now that he is fired maybe we can start getting things done that actually do affect our lives.

8. The last shoe has yet to drop. CBS is his main employer
and hasn't fired him yet, just suspended him as NBC/MSNBC initially did.

CBS Radio reaffirmed the suspension in a statement this evening after the NBC announcement and said it would “continue to speak with all concerned parties and monitor the situation closely.”

17. right
the MSNBC gig was small potatoes. His radio job is his main outlet, and his main source of income.

MSNBC showed it because it was a super cheap show to broadcast in the middle of the night/early morning (depending on your timezone).

Imus will still make money hand over fist if he keeps his radio gig.

10. NEXT? I can think of SEVERAL.
WE must contact the corporate sponsors of ALL of the hate mongers
on the air waves and threaten to boycott their products.
The air waves belong to WE, the PEOPLE.

11. Where Are The Radio Affiliates?
He's on 70 stations...owned by several companies that so far have kept their names out of this mess...Entercom and Clear Channel...that own stations Imus airs on. I have yet to hear of any station cancelling his show or denouncing what he said. These are the people who make the biggest profits from Imus and still hope to keep that gravy train rolling.

One sidenote: A couple years ago, a goof friend of mine was working for NBC in Ft. Lee, NJ...where Imus did his show. They had just moved from WFAN's studios into MSNBC and he told me what hell this had become. Imus and all his people were assholes...they fought with virtually everyone, were loud and obnoxious and felt they were "special" and could get away with anything. No wonder Imus felt he could say anything and get away with it...he had been.

This is a positive development, but far from enough or the end. Imus' stations now need to hear from listeners and advertisers...make them force him off and we may start seeing some changes in other places.

14. Jesse Jackson agrees with many of us that this issue should not stop with Don Imus.
Thankfully Mr. Jackson does not support the "double standard" that many advocate in favor of.

Not sure on CBS or the radio program. My guess is he'll keep his radio show?

21. Good. Maybe MSNBC can report on actual news during that time
Bigoted remarks aside, what made MSNBC think that watching some idiot talk on the radio was quality programming? Even if Imus was civil, the show would have still sucked.

He makes them much too much money to simply go away.
