Do you think a post should have 20 votes to get on greatest page?
Since some folks seem to be very concerned about trash getting onto the Greatest Page. Would this not alleviate a lot of those concerns? Many, many posts get between 5-20 recommend votes but not enough to go further up the page. Just a thought. This post is not deserving of a recommend vote and is not looking for one. This is just an observation about the greatest page.

1. I'm fine with 5...
Reason: Some of the smaller groups have a difficult time garnering 20 votes, but that does not make the posts any less important or great. I think the 5 is fine.

3. What about 10?
Would that be a good compromise?

4. I am willing to go as high as 25.........
perhaps, 5 was a reasonable number when this place started.

5. I've always thought it should be more
than 5. I was thinking 10, but 15 or 20 is good, too, IMO.

It's called the GREATEST PAGE - not the at least five people think it's good page.

6. I frankly never look at the "Greatest Page" so I don't really have a strong opinion on the
subject. I would think if something is considered truly great (or at least popular among its readers), then probably more than five votes should be needed.

7. I suspect allusion to the GP is sometimes a misdirect for ideologically driven m.o.
... re what actually fuels the unrecers. I exclude the basic Rec option on that since that was initially established as way of showing solidarity for a particular perspective. The unrec option wars with that, yet its count isn't displayed - a choice made by the site's owners that I find rather suspect, and needlessly so since the basic Rec # is displayed.

8. I think 5 is OK with the Unrecommend feature, but without it 20 would be good
What bothers me, and this is recent, is that there seem to be people who are lurking here for no other purpose than to unrecommend any post that makes a good point, or makes a point well, or in any way casts a cloud over a right-wing talking point. So a lot of very good posts are finding themselves with that little <0 symbol undeservedly (is that a word?).

9. But don't they realize that makes them easier to track?
by the Admins? :-) So I guess it does serve a useful purpose?

11. I think we should be able to set our own individual visibility thresholds
Its unrealistic in server load and browser load, but it would end this conversation.

Maybe have people join together and put something up on e-lance to get an ajax greatest filter page coded? It could never be the default greatest page, but an optional view, maybe?
