Christian Nation My Ass!
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 09:40 AM by gopiscrap
Yes, the right and the idiots who are to the right of the right wing (birthers, deathers, birchers, fundies) proclaim at every opportunity they get that this is a "Chirstian Nation" Really? REALLY?

Let me ask those so called "Christians" a few questions:

Why is that we systematically racially profile people of color?
Why is that we arrest those in the "minority" quicker than others?
Why is that we hand down harsher sentences to people of color?
Why is that we protect a fetus yet starve the child?
Why is that we go to the wall for a women on life support whose husband wishes only to end the nightmare?
Why is that we systematically deny the right of an entire class of people to marry the one they love?
Why is that we have no problem spending trillions of dollars to kill people who don't look like us?
Why is that we can bail out large banks yet can't help people losing their homes?
Why is that we will destor a foreign land to award a fat contact to huge firms to rebuild just so that they can rich off of other's people's misery?
Why is that we will trump up charges on people to quiet their dissent?
Why is that we are the only industrialized nation that will let our people go bankrupt because of medical expenses?

Because we are not a Christian nation at all...if we were we would heal the sick, house the homeless, clothe thenaked and feed the hungry!!!!

We are a greed nation...It got worse when Reagan became president. The whole underlying subtext of his campaign was "I've got mine...so fuck you!"

If we were a Christian nation this debate over health care wouldn't even be happening...we would have had a single payer universal health care system in place!

Fundies and those who are Christian that follow the right wing nuts: WAKE UP..seriously examine what is being said and more so: what is being done.

Remeber "What soever you do the least of these......"

End of rant!

2. So basically it's clear that "we" are not a xian nation.
I know that there are many good xians out there,
and that xianity is not a bad religion in and of
itself, the same as islam, judaism, buddhism
hinduism, or any other religion or spiritual
practice on the planet.

However, what's being done in the "name" of
religion these days is so anti-human, violent,
racist, and just pure evil that I truly hope
that "we" are not a xian nation.

I would prefer to think of this nation as having
the potential for great good, both human and divine..
and it's clear that that potential will only become
reality when enough people decide to stand up for
what's right in a significant and organized way.

8. If mythology is the answer, why not go with Asclepius?
I mean, he was the god of medicine and healing and all that stuff. If we were an Asclepius Nation, our problems would be solved with this healthcare business. ;-)

17. Haven't you been following the revelations about the The C Street Family?

Traditional Christians have got it all wrong. God only wants to support the wealthy and powerful because they are The Chosen. All those passages in the bible about wealthy men entering the kingdom of heaven being as likely as a camel passing through the eye of the needle...that's only intended to placate us peons.

BTW The Cubs were my first real employer. I worked for their AAA farm team the Tacoma Cubs in 1971 and still have the very first check issued to me for 6.87 (that was 3 hours of work back then) I lost the check and then found it several months later..it had been already replaced.

20. Why the Treaty of Tripoli said we were not a Christian nation.

The Kings of Europe claimed the Christian God gave them the right to run their country.

The Caliphs of North Africa and the Middle East claimed the Muslim God gave them the right to run their country.

The elected leaders of the United States of America were given the right to run our country by we the people. No God involved. This meant the country was not a Christian nation. And that meant the Islamic Caliphs were not forbidden by Islamic law to treat with the United States of America.

If we're a Christian nation, why do we hold elections? Gods appoint kings and prophets, not presidents and congress-critters, for the nations of the world.

Separation of Church and State. Period.

Why don't I ever hear about this anymore? This is a concept I was raised with (ok I'm that old) --which would balance all the freaking equations. To each his or her own. But noooooooooooooo the crazy people have to be the center of attention!!!

we are not a Christian nation
as long as 46 million citizens are uninsured or underinsured
as long as our Veterans are underserved by the nation that put them in harm's way
as long as children go hungry
as long as homeless shelters need to exist
