Right Wing Hate/Propaganda Machine TALKING POINT o'the Day - Ronald Reagan

Limbaugh and my local wingnut mini-Rush radio personality have both run the same bits of an audio recording done by Reagan in 1961 where he rails against "Socialized Medicine." The recording was sponsored by the AMA and was part of a campaign to defeat legislation that ultimately became Medicare. The campaign was dubbed "Operation Coffee Cup". In the recording, Reagan promises the listener that life as we know it will cease to exist should the Democrats pass this legislation. He offered that freedom would quickly die should the US Government begin subsidizing healthcare to the elderly.

The truly amazing aspect to this talking point of the day is that the program that came from the legislation Reagan was trashing was Medicare. One wonders how many of Rush's listeners will put that together. He surely did not mention it. Also, it is highly doubtful that the brain dead righties that listen to his show will ponder the absolute failure of Reagan's predictions concerning the total loss of freedom resulting from the legislation that became Medicare.

How many of Rush's idiot listeners would give up their Medicare benefits to stop the scourge and mortal threat of "socialized mediciane?"

In short, Rush is the leader of an army of complete morons and certifiable idiots - the dittoheads.
