5. Instead of polling, MSM ought to be pointing out how absurd this is.
They are, instead, perpetuating the myth.

i.e.: "Are there Death Panels in the bill??? How many Americans think there are Death Panels in the bill???"

instead of:

"Our polls show how little Americans understand about the pending legislation. Here are the FACTS."

:nuke:

6. That would require jounalism not infotainment
And the corporate media uses infotainment to lie to the public 24/7.

7. You surprised by that?
Just like all the other industries in America which aren't soaked by healthcare costs (i.e. just about any unionized business), they don't want healthcare reform because they know it'll put the insurance companies out of business gradually. And of course, modern businessmen in America have proven many many times that they don't give a fuck about anything but profit and their own wallets, that's why we get union busting and unions forced into concessions to keep employers rich, like what happened with General Motors.

Ya know what will get the attention of the country, and perhaps this is the only way to do it, is for the AFL-CIO to have every single one of its members go on strike. A general strike, and a big one, to say to Obama and his bunch of spineless pussies "Remember what we elected you for, Barack. You think the right-wing of this nation will ever accept you? No, they'll keep on ranting about you being a Kenyan until the day they die. You want to leave a legacy, Barack? Side with the left, to hell with the DLC, to hell with Bacchus and Nelson, to hell with Rahm Emanuel, to hell with the Republicans. If you fail, at least you can you tried, and go down as a visionary. And if you get decent success with healthcare, you think those blathering morons in the GOP will be able to beat you?"

Think about it - many high-school courses teach about Eugene Debs, who never accomplished much but did raise many great ideas and idealists. Howard Dean got it right. We don't need any more compromises, especially when people will keep dying because of insurance companies with this bill. We need the nation to tell Obama and the 111th Congress to get the job done, period.

9. I think its a matter of credibility
There was a tremendous propaganda campaign done by the Reaganites, first in CA, then throughout the country. They ascended by creating this credibility issue and gov't being a really bad thing.

Today we are seeing the results of that campaign. A "small" base still lives with the absolute tenet of dishonest gov't that just wants to maintain itself. But there is another large percentage that has this small bit of cancer in their psyche -- they have a skepticism toward any gov't statement. Of course they don't recognise that someone like Boehner is a part of that gov't cause he appears to be on their side when he says gov't is bad.

So when you have Pelosi saying one thing and Beck saying another, they will believe Beck -- because she is gov't and not to be trusted, he is not and besides why would he have a microphone if he lies. Laziness and lack of overall skepticism prevents them from determining which is correct.

I lived the scientific principles and learned during the Johnson/Nixon years to apply that to politics. I look at the info and said someone here is not telling me the truth. I shall determine who and put them on my donottrust list.

The 23% in this poll don't do that. They know to a certainty who is lying because the fat guy on the radio told them who is lying. It's easier that way.
