Any Senator who announces opposition on the Public Option should be stripped of chairmanship
Senators from conservative states may not be worried about us and problems in getting reelected but they are there to have influence and covet the power of committee chairmanships.

Hutzpa advises that Senator Conrad has come out publicly against Public Option

Contact his office and tell them that you will be joining millions of Democrats insisting that Nelson lose his chairmanship of

the Senate Committee on the Budget

10. No I call for it to be taken from him

My phrase: "Any Senator who announces opposition on the Public Option should be stripped of chairmanship"

Your phrase "calls for Nelson to step down" appears nowhere in the OP

I suggest calling Nelson's office to let them know our opinion.

If the comment is confirmed we should start calling Senate Leadership to get them to commit.

In as much as Senator Nelson's office hadn't heard of the statement and the actual quotation may be wrong it would be most helpful if Nelson himself clarified his position quickly, hence the call to Nelson's office warning them of possible consequences of opposing the public option.

11. Strip of chairmanship if they filibuster, otherwise it's not a big deal.
Threatening to strip senators of their chairmanships if they vote against the public options is guaranteeing no public option, because then senators will just filibuster since they have nothing left to lose. Voting for a public option will be a significant electoral blow for some Democratic senators, and it's in the best interest of the Democratic party to give them some leeway. If they filibuster, however, take away every chair of any committee they sit on and primary them.
