What does the phrase "I'm a proud NRA member" have to do with health care reform?
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 03:20 PM by tridim
This is in reference to the NRA memeber asking a question at the Montana town hall.

I'd really like to know, because from where I sit (the real world) it makes exactly zero sense.

Is the NRA against health care reform? If so, why? Politics?

3. Well yes, but it still has nothing to do with health care.
Well, in Cheney's case it might when he shoots people in the face.

The money gets spread after the fact.

7. He TOLD the President that he can't pay for the public option.
Then the President explained how it is paid for.

That's it.

34. Then he was announcing his idiocy
although I'm sure that's not what he thought he was doing.

Occasionally a rural person will say that to let the audience know he isn't a treehugger even though he supports some kind of rational reform. Not very often, but sometimes.

Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 03:28 PM by SteppingRazor
Protests offer an ample opportunity for people of a shared general political philosophy to meet and exchange ideas. No surprise there.

On edit: Mea culpa. I'm not watching the Montana meeting, so I thought you meant he was holding a sign among antiwar signs. As far as telling Obama that at the town-hall meeting, no, I don't really get what the point is.

YES, guns have everything to do with bituminous coal!

See? That's how important guns are. They are really, really fucking important, and don't you forget it!

If he could say, "Ah'm a proud member of the 10-inch Club", he would've left that NRA badge at home.

24. NRA is against all things Democrat, the NRA is just
a shill for the Republicans. The NRA has always been that way especially since Wayne LaPierre took office. I'm not saying all members are but their leadership is. I was a member of the NRA up until after the Oklahoma bombing when the NRA opposed putting taggets in explosives so a terrorist such as Timothy McVeigh could be caught.

31. It's pseudo code speak and carries the same weight as saying, "as a Veteran..."
It has nothing to do with what is at hand, it's just an insecure person hopeing his statement carry more weight with the silly qualification.

As a veteran, when I hear, "as a veteran...", I generally hear garbage. ;)
