7. National socialism
We need only to be careful that if we can socialize the current system that when (and unfortunately its when not if.) The neocons come back to power that they do not capitalize on the new government authority and use it to enforce their brand of ethics. We have seen once before how arrogant nationalist can corrupt socialism to the detriment of the world. For those that do not know the nazi party was Germany's national socialist party, I for one can easily picture the Limbaugh crowd using government authority in this way.

10. Explain to us ignorant fools what was socialist about the nazis.
No really, please. Give examples of nazis utilizing the tenets of socialism.

What a fool.

11. Name calling.......
Is not yet warranted especially if you were to open a history book and find that the word Nazi was an acronym for national socialist workers party (in german of course). As far as the Nazi's utilizing the tenets of socialism examples would include german industry (auto steel you name it.) as well as german health care (obviously not as applied to jews). In general german domestic policies of the time were socialist in nature. The nazi's are an example of national socialism rather than a democratic socialism. My concern as originally posted before you read nazi and socialist and your brain automatically shut down, was that when the neocon's regain power and make no mistake one day they will, any authority we give the government now by instituting a democratic socialism could likey be used against us when nationalist like Nazi's/necons are in power. The right will quickly transform any democratic socialist structure into a nationalist one, failure to understand this has led to millions of deaths before. Let us not rush to make the same mistakes.

13. Sheer unmitigated historical ignorance.
Communists, socialists, and unionists were alongside the jews and gypsies on the deathcamp trains.

Well since you cannot argue a point with any civility, I would love for you to explain to this history major what the word Nazi stands for and not in some emotionally based way. The FACT is that the nazi's were national socialist, thats what the f@#king word means! Apparently your lack of knowledge of history and politics does not allow you to understand the difference between national socialism and democratic socialism. I am not the one stating that national/democratic socialism are the same you are the f#@king @$$hole making that inference. What I am stating for someone who's thought process is obviously more emotion than logic driven is that IN THE HANDS OF RIGHT WING DESPOTS SOCIALISM (NATIONAL) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATHS OF MILLIONS. Is democratic socialism responsible for the same? No obviously not. I was making a point about being cautious how much control to hand over to the government because the right wingers will be back. Yes the nazi's persecuted gypsies, communist, gays etc so apparently once upon a time you have seen a history book. Beyond that crude knowledge I suggest you get your facts straight.

20. Put down the crack pipe......
You were right all along just because german auto industry (volkswagen etc.) was socialized and german industry was socialized (Krupp steel etc.) and german health care was socialized, does not mean they were really socialist does it? You still seem unable to grasp simple concepts like the difference between national and democratic socialism. To be fair you make a good point about misleading terms such as no child left behind......it just does not apply to the discussion we are having here unless, perhaps you refer to yourself as an intellectual.

21. Are they not already?
The corporate profit mongers have overrun the whole system. Even with Obama in office, the corporations have their way.

We are heading for Paris circa 1792.

Maybe.

with paperwork to opt out of Medicare, police protection, postal service, the works.

12. If Obama was a Socialist, he would have nationalized the banks
instead of bailing them out. Hell, there were even Conservatives calling for nationalization. Personally, I think I would have preferred that, too.
