Sadly, we won't be going to David Scott's townhall tomorrow
initially we planned to go - the screamers showing up in other areas made us more determined to attend. Our goal was 2 fold - obtain information - let our voices regarding single payer, universal access to medical known.

Then there was the swastika - and the gun strapped to some idiot's leg - and the subtle and not so subtle threats on local talk radio. We have decided there are more productive ways to risk our lives for the cause. My husband is not long out of 7 months in the hospital and was not too excited about being in that kind of unruly crowd anyway - it didn't take much to push him against going.

He is EXACTLY the kind of person the crowd needs to hear from. EXACTLY the kind of person David Scott should be deciding for. We will find other avenues to make our voices heard above the din.

3. You know what
if protecting a sick fragile man from being knocked down in an unruly crowd (which would probably cost him most of his mobility forever and might even cost him his life) makes us failures as citizens of this country then we'll just have to live with that.

And yes, this is exactly why they are doing it. They are fucking bullies.

2. When and where?
Me and the hubby are going to Clayton Co. to visit his mom and if we just happen to have to go to this, well then I'll just whip out my posterboard and sharpies right now!

4. After 7 months in the hospital, I wouldn't want to risk being around those people
either. There are always other ways to put in. :hi:

7. I don't blame you- it is getting too dangerous for those with health problems
Our Representative, Allen Boyd, is having meetings all over the region now and will be here in town on the 22nd. I thought about trying to get there, but the location sucks for anyone with mobility problems. With two bad knees, it would be bad enough, but I had surgery in June and don't have full use of one arm, so that really limits doing things.

I've emailed Boyd and listened in on one of his conference calls, but getting into the middle of a friendly crowd would be hard enough. In fact, I opted out of going to an OFA training meeting tonight for the same reasons.

I think the best we can do is to keep calling our Congress critters if we cannot make it to the meetings.
