Rachel Maddow got me thinking: Bush's vacations were bad for America
Rachel Maddow brougt this up the other night: notable events happened around the time of 3 of Bush's many long vacations.

In 2001, as the CIA picked up terrorist chatter and tried to pass along dire warnings, Bush was on vacation and saw no reason to cut it short.

In March of 2005, he hauled ass back to Washington to sign the Terry Shiavo bill. Yes, republicans promoting government interference in private health care matters.

Four months later he made up the lost vacation time as Katrina approched the Gulf Coast. He did leave the ranch, to have birthday cake with John McCain.

At least one Bush vacation is working out: the permanent one imposed by term limits. You keep clearing brush, George, we'll be cleaning up your mess.

1. Hr spent so much of his
time on vacation, kind of hard for things to not happen while he was away.

3. Good point
I thought his old man spent too much time at Kennebunkport. GW made him look like a workaholic.

4. Bush Takes Most Vacation Days For Sitting President
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/03/11/politics/uwire/main3927378.shtml

President Bush recently spent his 879th day at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, since the Supreme Court, in all its great wisdom, elevated him to the presidency. This according to NPR's "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me," which noted that Bush broke former President Reagan's record for taking vacations from the White House.

6. Bush took over two YEARS of vacation in his eight years in office?
We should get back one fourth of the total salary paid to him for his time! I knew he was a slacker, but I didn't know it was quite that bad.

7. Just a note - and maybe in its way an important one - the CIA does not pick up chatter
NSA does.
