You know I'm not sure what to think |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-16-09 08:56 AM by madokie
Today, right now, I'm taking in meet the press with dances with rove along with Tom Dashle, Rachel Maddow, the Big Dick Armey and The Nutty as a fruitcake Tom Coburn and I'm seeing a seemingly well run discussion on health care reform. I quit watching Gregory after the episode with dances with rove and since I've been led to believe he is not doing a very good job at the head of the table here but what I see after I finally do set down and watch the program I see that he is in fact doing a pretty darn good job. I guess what I want to know is is there just a few here who are trying to poison the well, so to say, in order to keep as many as possible away from watching this show? The Dick and the nut Tom are in fact being called on their bullshit and not only by Rachel.
Add: Rachel is why I'm here watching today. I love her and try not to miss any appearance she makes anywhere. I love her because she so many times says the words that come to mind to me first. So far in her appearances on the tv I can honestly say she speaks for me. Just so's you know.
Add: I see unrec's here, whats the deal with that?

4. What I'm saying is I'm not seeing that this morning |
|
so therefore from my very limited knowledge of meet the press due to not watching this show before I disagree with that statement.

10. So it's better to concentrate on dances with rove rather than the issue of the day |
|
based on what I seen this mornings show I don't agree with your statement. Oh I don't love him by any means but he did try to hold a civil discussion on the subject and for the most part did just that. From my experience this morning I will be taking in more of meet the press and who knows maybe I'll come to agree with you, only time will tell.

he has made the show unwatchable to me. IDK, maybe Russert (who had HIS own flaws IMO) set such a high standard, that it's almost like the difference between listening to Justin Timberlake and Beyonce sing Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's Ain't No Mountain High Enough-professional? Yes, but nowhere near as good OR REAL.

18. With me I couldn't watch when Russert was still alive |
|
because I seen him as exactly what some here are saying about Gregory. Tim Russert was a republicon hack so how did he set the bar too high, I ask?

14. I sure didn't see that this morning at all |
|
Like I said I haven't been watching his show so I'm only basing my thoughts on what I seen this morning. I'm not so sure I want to believe someone anymore when they so vehemently oppose someone who I can see for myself is a reasonable person. No one is everything to everyone and is honest at the same time. I'll be watching more of meet the press

to stop the bullshit when it's flying. He lets the debate go any way the RW shills want it to go-which is backed up by his memo in a plea to Governor Sanford's people when he was trying to book him for the show during his 'crisis'. He essentially told them that he "will let them frame the debate as they see fit to" something along those lines; maybe someone has the actual written quote.

2. Stick to your guns and do the right thing. |

I never cease to marvel at two different persons can be looking at the very smae show and each person's interpretation of what they are watching is so different.

I guess the lesson for me is to not let others influence me so. That way I will then only have me to blame, huh :-)

6. Some folks here are looking for a "Limbaugh of the Left" |
|
They're looking for Gregory to come unglued, interrupt the guests & start ranting a screaming.
Others want to see responsible & unbiased journalism.
I agree I'm not sure what to think. I hate to see lies get spread on a news show, and I'm not how that should be handled.
So my real issues have more to do with why the known liars get on these shows in the first place? When I was in journalism, I learned to check facts and screen the subjects. People that didn't have anything to add to the topic at-hand - or it was apparent that the subject was using the press to further an agenda - ended up cut from the story.
That was 15 years ago.

7. I'd say that because Rachel is on, they know a lot of us are turning in. |
|
Today, his numbers will probably increase in rating. I'm assuming he's going to try and be better today to attract more viewers next week. But it won't last. He's still the dancing man. I'd love to see Lawrence O'Donnell host the show.

I also will watch some more of meet the press in the future because of what I seen and heard today. To me the issue is not that a favorite person of mine is not doing the job I want them too so I can't take whoever is doing the job seriously is not going to be. Today on this show I seen that the dick and the nut are exactly what I already knew them to be, bought and paid for jerks with a I got mine screw you attitude. Not a whole lot of new info, moreso a confirmation of what I already knew, that Dashle is good, Rachel is great, the other two, well all I can say for them is they are true to their convictions. In other words they follow the money.

15. The discussion and DG's biased questions were clealry slanted to favor the conservatives |
|
He asked MUCH tougher and more biased questions to the liberal reps than the conservatives on the show, and left Rachel and Daschle to defend the need for reform and the president. Showing the "proud NRA" member's questions at the town hall meeting WITHOUT the presidents great response, was totally biased. Rachel was even critical of the president on many points so you have basically had an attack on the president's agenda and vision.
I would suggest you watch the video from the town hall meetings, both the MT and CO ones. The president is making a very compelling case out there, and talks about reducing costs, improving quality and outcomes, and the urgent need for insurance reform. I saw ZERO clips of Obama on any of the Sunday talk shows, just blanket criticism of him losing the message and weakening his position by backpeddling on the public option. That is not the case. He's being unfairly covered on the Sunday talk shows and especially MTP.
