No apologies. I'm still glad Obama won. |
|
We'd be having NO discussion about healthcare with McCain in the White House.

1. Of course. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be mad or disappointed... |
|
In fact, I think we have even more justification to be mad and disappointed.

9. I donated to what I thought was "better." |

I'm not convinced that any other president could accomplish any more, given the inertia and corporate forces arrayed against us.
I believe we got the best president we could out of the field we had. That's saying a lot, I think.

10. I think we had every right to expect better from Obama, Pelosi and Reid |

and it's not inconsistent to say one is happy Obama won and unhappy with the current state of affairs --that's the problem with these threads I think: they pigeon hole everyone into one of two groups, one that likes Obama and is happy with him and one that doesn't like Obama and is unhappy with him...and that these groups are unchanging.
not true.

26. It is sad that you have to keep saying that over and over again |

to the true believers who think nobody else in existence could possibly have been as good as Obama, much less better. :(
At this rate, I sure as hell hope Obama is a 1-term President. I hope someone, after he has fucked up everything in his one term, he just steps down and doesn't run again. We need someone who with some actual courage in that office representing Democratic ideals and our constituents. He hasn't shown even once yet that he has that courage.
I am beyond just sick at this point of him caving in, giving in, "seeking bipartisanship" above all else, appointing conservatives and DINO "moderates" to places where he could have appointed left-leaning people, and never having the guts to really put up a fight for lefty goals and ideals.

... especially in the Senate. I suspect we haven't even begun to see some major changes for the better ahead.

That said, I'm not getting all the policy I want out of the White House and Congress, to say the least.

22. I'm getting pounded in other threads for believing he might do the right thing |
|
An Example:
...Instead Obama is carrying on the Bush policies and we should all admit that and begin NOW, fielding a progressive candidate who will do what Obama promised. It disappoints me too, but realistically a con is a con...

well if it makes you feel any better I stand with you I have no doubt he will do the right thing. Hell he said just the other day he doesnt care if he is a one term president if it means he gets a national health care plan through that adresses the needs of the american public.
The man isnt perfect but i have no doubt whatsoever his priorities are in the right place.

25. IMO he is a good guy in a tough spot |
|
Before the election I warned loudly and often not to get our expectations set too high. Everybody was giddy and was sure things would change as soon as he was inaugurated. There is a tremendous inertia in government and it was going to take a long time to turn things around. In some cases I would be happy just for things that are going the wrong way to slow down, let alone change direction.
