Private health insurance is a form of... |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-16-09 11:30 PM by SHRED
..."collectivism".
Everyone contributes to a pool of money from which is drawn out of by those in need of care at any given time.
Much like a single-payer system would be, on a National scale, that the Repubs love to call "Socialism"...(except for the obscene profits off of people's lives of course).
Is this an accurate observation?

1. I see it as something more like "extortion" |
|
Your health care is being held ransom by a corporation.

2. Hardly. If that were the case no one would be complaining. |
|
Today it's pay for insurance and pay for your health care too, because it's set up to make a profit for them not pay your bills.

6. Of course. That's they way they want it to work. |

Tell me how much you have gotten back in your car insurance as against what you have paid into it? Health care should not be an insurance matter but a matter of accessibility when you need it with no road blocks in the way.

3. Except for that big chunk taken off the top |

as profit. Private health insurance is more accurately called a "protection racket".

7. Lets be positive. I'm going to say YES. |

Sometimes I just want to rip my hair out, and flip sides just to bring forth many of the collectivist ideas in conservatism. I get so sick of everybody constantly attacking their own reflections.
The idea of a corporation, by which a number of individuals come together as cells in a new "body" (corpus) is collectivism in its most direct form. Only in the Christian Eucharist, were people symbolically consume the body and blood of Christ to become a cell in his new body the church, do we see a more ancient form of this in the western world. China inc. Is the most direct manifestation of this in the realm of states, the USSR merely being a mismanaged corporation. Communism is capitalism without monopoly restraints, one corporation runs and owns everything, or at least away from the level of ideals this is what it is. The KGB was management, the workers were still the workers.

8. That was the original concept. |

Back in the day when the vast majority of hospitals and health insurance companies were NONPROFIT (not interested solely in making money for shareholders), that would have been a fairly accurate observation.
Now, however, it is indeed, as another poster said, extortion.
