and we post on websites, go to meetups, write letters to the editor, donate to candidates, organize, and register voters.
They lose an election, and they get out their guns.
So who is it again that doesn't believe in the American system?
Listen to the things they say. They believe in using violence to change the system. They believe that the second amendment is there expressly for that reason. People can argue about whether or not it gives you the right to bear arms (and *PLEASE* let's not turn this thread into that), but there is no reasonable way to interpret it as saying that guns can be used instead of votes if the losers are unhappy enough about losing.
They repudiate everything in that document about how the people are supposed to choose a representative government, and instead cling to an amendment that says nothing about how we should choose our representatives.

2. They do the same thing with their brand of christianity too. |

Definite pattern to these people.
Hypocritical to the end in nearly everything they say and do.

3. THEY are the ones who are linked to the violent and hateful, I mean really hateful site. |
|
I'm talking about, for example, St***Front, which has links to Armey's site and all the TownHooligans.
While the wackiest parts of anyone linked to our side might include fruitarians or new agers (no offense intended).
In short, we associate with happy whackies, they associate with murderous racists.

dichotomy.
Liberals want the best for everyone, rethugs want the worst, especially when they are out of power.
Even when in power, we want to 'make nice'. They obviously don't.
I love the respect from our side, but there is a point when I think, go after the bastards!

8. This isn't about us trying to be more agressive than them. |
|
The system was designed to allow nonviolent resolution of political differences.
They have a very simplistic view of what constitutes patriotism. They think that threatening their political opponents with violence is as American as apple pie.
They believe in law and order until they lose an election. I think this needs to be pointed out.

You calmed me down. Thank you.
They lost an election. It says a lot when we lose an election we don't go imbecilic. Well, most of us. ;)

10. That's right, most of us. |
|
In case anyone is thinking otherwise, I'm not claiming that there aren't ever any violent people on the left. Certainly there have been and unfortunately there will be more in the future. But it isn't part of our core values like it seems to be with them. "God, guns and guts" seem to be more important to them than the political process.

12. We want peace and justice. That's it. It's so simple, but so complicated. |
|
And I think our prez does, too.
Sigh. I'm tired of fighting for something (health care) that should be a given. The massive ignorance in this country who listen to the spinners continue to blow my mind. I saw it in 2004.
There are a lot of really dumb people out there. Not even disillusioned, just plain dumb.

And they bully the country into a costly, unnecessary war with Iraq, the Patriot Act, etc etc.
We win an election, and we cave on health care despite a majority in the house and senate.

and you use it as an opportunity to slam Dems. Can we not make this into a thread about health care? We have plenty of those already.

Was there some mass shooting recently? Was someone killed at a town hall? Did the tea baggers bomb something? I am not trying to be a smart @$$ just trying to figure out exactly what we are talking about here.

People are showing up at Townhall meetings about healthcare with guns and carrying signs about the blood of tyrants. How else can this be interpreted except as a threat of violence against the government?
But you already knew that.

21. Maybe I assumed to much.... |
|
And yes I know what happens when you assume. I took your original reply about people carrying guns to rallies with signs reading blood for tyrants etc. as an implication. I thought the discussion was about right wingers being violent and I just have not seen it yet. I was looking for some examples.

to "peaceful assemblies" It's pretty ironic isn't it? Wonder if the "Smith Act" might strangely apply to this mess? Especially given some of the rhetoric that has been flying around- like "We will forcefully resist..."(Chris, man with assault rifle at Obama event) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=8595716&mesg_id=8595716
