Left vs. Right (Liberal vs Conservative) defined: Anyone have a good site? |
|
I'm looking for a site that defines what it means to be on the left or the right. I don't really like the terms Liberal and Conservative because they mean different things in different countries, etc.
Does anybody here have a site that hopefully has a somewhat scholarly/textbook bent? I would like to avoid any pundit-level sites. Anyone who actively participates in campaigns, etc. will probably be somewhat slanted, if not downright wrong interpretation. You wouldn't believe the stuff I've been reading trying to find these definitions. Holy crap!
I think one of the biggest problems we have in the politics of the US is that we don't really have good definitions of what the parties are all about at the root level. Thus we have all these people (on both sides) who vote for the wrong party.
If you want to take a stab at defining left and right, knock yerself out. I'd love to hear it.

1. Let me help you out... |
|
People that care about helping other people, and sometimes go about garnering that support in pushy ways (not always, just sometimes). Those people also like to use facts to back up their information. We refer to them as liberals.
Then in the other corner we have the hate-ridden, racist, Batshit insane, that can't be bothered with what the bible actually says, when they're throwing it at people.
Any questions?
