Dianne Feinstein - The Worst Peice of Crap in California
I swear to God - EVERY TIME it really counts this woman drives a stake in the hearts of Califonians

California senator still won't back Obama's healthcare plan

Of course, Feinstein doesn't seem to worry about healthcare costs when they are spent on her career -- the industry is the sixth-largest donor to Feinstein's campaign funds since 2005, contributing over $300,000 according to Web watchdog OpenSecrets.

5. Why should politicians be allowed to take donations...
from corporations?

If they could only get donations from voters, we might actually have a government that represents us.

And we see a hell of a lot less political commercials on TV.

9. The rich would still dominate the political scene. We need govt. financed
campaigns. Each candidate gets the same amount of money from a pool of taxpayers. That's it, no more.

10. They don't get donations directly from corporations. That's illegal.
Edited on Wed Aug-19-09 11:30 PM by Eric J in MN
Instead, they get donations from corporate PACs and from individuals who work at corporations and from lobbyists for corporations.

I wouldn't be surprised to find anonymous Swiss accounts, shell corporations, and family member's accounts of 2/3rds of every member of Congress stuffed with dirty, corporate money.

35. A case before the Supreme Court can change all that this fall.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/thom-hartmann/fascism-coming-to-a-court_b_226256.html

Snip from Thom Hartmann's July 6th article:

Fascism Coming to a Court Near You (Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission)

"Last year a right-wing group put together a 90-minute hit-job on Hillary Clinton, and wanted to run it on TV stations in strategic states. The Federal Election Commission ruled that the "documentary" was actually a "campaign ad" and thus fell under the restrictions on campaign spending of McCain-Feingold, and thus stopped it from airing. (Corporate contributions to campaigns have been banned repeatedly and in various ways since 1907 when Teddy Roosevelt pushed through the Tillman Act.)

Citizens United, the right-wing group, sued the Supreme Court, with right-wing hit man and former Reagan solicitor general Ted Olson as their lead lawyer.

This new case, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, presents the best opportunity for the Roberts Court to use its five vote majority to totally re-write the face of politics in America, rolling us back to the pre-1907 era of the Robber Barons."

13. Corporations cannot directly donate to politicians though. Their employees can.
Get together 200 managers at a health insurance company to donate the maximum individual amount of $2400 to a particular candidate, say, Diane Feinstein, and you are already looking at $480,000 from just 200 individuals. The process itself is known as "bundling," where one person goes around collecting the donations and then giving it to the candidate.

It is one way a corporation can influence a candidate without directly donating to that candidate.

16. We have been doing this for years at DU. It's starting to bleed into
the media, and I don't mind DINOs like DiFi and Max Baucus being exposed. However, for years we were exposing the Republicans and nobody is doing this. We can't let up on this. Just picking on our own isn't enough. We have to expose the real corporate whores on the right wing side of the aisle too.

Too many folks forget this in the aftermath of DiFi's exploitation of that tragedy for her political well-being.

22. Well as long as der titzengroper is around she isn't the worst
But she sure as hell is right up there.

WTF does she need to be in public office for anyway. Her and her husband have already made a brazillion dollars in war profiteering and she's like 112 years old.

She should not be governor. Actually she shouldn't even be a senator anymore.

However if she wanted to move out here and run for sheriff I'd support her. She couldn't be any worse than what we have.
