The mantra of a good catholic school education. At least that seems to be my best memories of it. Not to sound too bitter, but it does not seem like money well spent.

1. Obviously the public schools were better where you lived.
I went to Catholic school because the public school had become physically dangerous, having been emotionally destructive long before that. Catholic school wasn't perfect, but it was a helluva lot safer than public school.

2. Wow, I went to Catholic School and even through some years of college
I never remembered that until now. I guess I took the good in Catholic Ed and forgot the bad. However, it almost seems like a Crusader oath?

3. Our version was a bit different -
given that we weren't a Catholic school, but a bunch of hippies with too many smarts and not enough time, not ever:

"Yours is not to reason why,
yours is but to do or die,
so shut your fucking mouth, scrotum."

Ah, it's touching how those sweet youthful memories never die.

Here we are at a reunion. All hung over.................

5. Wasn't that actually in Tennyson's first draft?

7. That quote only reminds me of Tim Curry in the movie Clue.
Now, show me a nun with a fistful of disembodied hair and Catholic school comes to mind.
