Web extra: Congressman Herger calls Obama plan 'threat to democracy'
Republican Congressman Wally Herger held a health care town hall meeting Aug. 18 at Simpson University in Redding, where a partisan crowd of over 2,000 people loudly cheered Herger’s position that a public option was “unacceptable.”

“Our democracy has never been threatened as much as it is today,” Herger said to a loud standing ovation.

One speaker said he could trace his ancestors back to the Mayflower and said “they did not arrive holding their hands out for help.” “I am a proud right wing terrorist,” he declared to cheers.

Herger praised the man’s attitude. “Amen, God bless you,” Herger said with a broad smile. “There is a great American.”

3. I sure hate to see these slugs take over the GOP
I often think that I have little power sitting here when you get these nuts with guns doing all this crazy stuff. One gun in the hands of a nut, who thinks like those crazies, is really scary. The KKK and their type lives on. Didn't we used to call them the loony fringe? They have power way over the few they are. Now we have the crazies in Congress feeding them along with Rush and Palin. Please let Obama and his family be safe.

4. That's kind of funny
One speaker said he could trace his ancestors back to the Mayflower and said “they did not arrive holding their hands out for help.”

I recall from history when they were starving they had their hands out pretty open begging for help from the Natives.
Later on many of those Mayflowerites killed those helping Natives.

On a personal note: I can trace a small branch of my family tree back to those very natives that helped the Mayflowerites.
I retrospect...I do wish they let them starve and die
