AmeriCare For US
Inspired by the Lakof article The Policy Speak Disaster for Health Care on how we should be communicating the need for a solution to the health care situation, and also inspired by Thom Hartmann's article Dear President Obama
which lays out in simple clear language, a simple easy solution which I, and probably most Americans have been hoping for...

I have launched my own grass roots organization.

www.AmeriCareForUS.org

right now it is deliberatly humble. I am a web developer and can do slick, but I don't want it slick. I want it real.

I will be building out the site in the coming weeks, but the main idea is to go viral with a basic message.

AmeriCare - because America Does Care.
Make Medicare available to anyone who wants it,
to anyone who needs it!

So I'm going to every forum I frequent and ask everyone there to send an email to everyone in their address book containing basically the message on the current start up page, AND urging them to send an email (yet to be composed) to their congressman and senators telling them what we want. and then go to every forum/network they belong to and ask everyone there to do the same...

I also will be contacting every org. that is currently sending me email, like moveon.org, democrats.com, michaelmoore.com etc. and trying to get them on the bandwagon and unifying the message and sending it out to their lists.

I have absolutely no experience being an activist, but I learn fast.

Anyone who wants to help, whether or not you have experience, but especially if you do at this kind of thing, please email me via the site and help me out!

The important thing is the framing. NOT "Medicare for All" that might trigger an anti-authoritarian, anti-govt. response in the conservative mindset.

but AmeriCare - because America Does Care.
Make Medicare available to anyone who wants it,
to anyone who needs it!

I love the tag AmeriCare. It's catchy, inclusive, and hopefully - non-offensive.

Good job!

And welcome to DU.

2. I've been using Americare for weeks now, it's the best
one-word frame I could come up with.

I also like to compare it to the current 'Pay-or-Die System'. I heard Pay-or-Die first from Hartmann.

Love the name, but so do others hence it's widespread adoption by a whole host of private (both for and not-for profit) companies. There's no way the public plan could adopt the name without causing a significant degree of hassle.

/Who says it has to be one word?
//American Health Service?
