during the 40s and 50s, and it was on a parental permission basis only, even then. I know this because we still had open showers in gym class, and all the Catholic boys were uncircumcized. So, it clearly was not an automatic thing, even at that time.

13. It turned out that the RCC was against circumcision. I couldn't

figure it out, but one day had a flash. This was back in the day that the RCC was still blaming Jews for killing Jesus. The Jews were circumcised, so that had to be bad, they reasoned.

I always wondered, though, where the Catholic Church would be had Jesus not been crucified...

None of the men in DHs family were done and they were all born in the USA and about as Yankee Doodle as Old Glory, They were also regular Bible reading, church going Christians (and until a bit over a decade and a half ago or so, when DH & his parents woke up, they had all been Old style Lincoln Republicans).
