3. This one is a young one
and she was making the connections of things that are common across cultures.

It was worth it. And no, she never went into dates...

But the connection between the pyramids all around the world and the new ones rising (dubai) was amazing. Hell, she actually went to the Sonora Market in Mexico City when talking about the power of the dead across the world, and got an honest to goodness Limpia. I could have told her about the spitting part, that surprised her. But hell, I have had shamans both bless me and curse me.

:-)

The last one blessed me and I have posted the story here. She was an honest to goodness curandera, and a diabetic. Her sugars were out of whack, we knew she needed the pills. Now that is white medicine and gosh darn it, foreign to her... so we looked up what her tecitos had, and amazingly it was the same compound in one case I take these days. So I took the three hours to explain this, and in the end she accepted the idea of taking them pills instead of the tecitos. No, not becuase they were better, never in my life would I have presented it that way, but because we had an accurate dose. Hell, her diet was the best diabetic diet I have ever seen in my life, since she ate a lot of vegies, and had every day an ancient Aztec remedy, cactus leaves (very rich in fiber, why it works).

Three months later she came to thank us, and bless us... and started working with one of our older docs who did a lot of research in traditional medicines, and that was the beginning of an outreach to the local native community. I can tell you, if I was still going down there, I'd go visit Dona Maria in a new york second... she taught me far more about what is to be a great person than many folks ever have. She also had a wealth of medical knowledge, even if most people in the modern world would laugh. One of her salves she used for wound care were amazing. And we tried to integrate some of her remedies to care... why not? They worked.

I also realize how lucky I was to meet some of the people I met over the years... but to me, and the rest it was all about the patient, and so it was to her. But you think I would have ever brought her in to do a limpia of one of my North American tourists? No... but some of our locals, a few times. Some round these parts think that is woo woo... but hell, if the patient believes it makes it better, sure, why not? The mind is amazing, and we don't know all we should.

6. And? What kind of myth?
Noah's boat didn't actually go anywhere. Except maybe up and down.
