Just finished a telephonic town hall with Congressman Mitchell |
|
It was very interesting!
He said 14,000 people participated! Unfortunately, they didn't get to my call, although I was in the queue.
The callers fell into three broad categories: 1) brain-dead conservatives ranting about tort reform and socialism 2) scared seniors 3) everyone else who wants a public option
It was actually very encouraging to me, because I live in what used to be J.D. Hayworth's district, so parts of it are very, very red (and not in a good way, if you know what I mean). But really, there was a lot of support for a public option, which Harry says he wants "as long as it's done right."
Anyway, that's my report from my neck of the woods. I'm going to keep on Harry about this!

There's nothing like someone who participated. Frankly I often wonder about whether the members of media are so in love with "If it bleeds, it leads" that they really are focusing on the screamers to the exclusion of all else.
I have some knowledge of town halls (not as a direct participant, though) and think the coverage has been rather skewed.
Anyway, thanks for getting in there and out there! :patriot:

3. We need to hand out fliers at senior centers |
|
That would be the fastest way to turn this around. Glad your call went well.
