What Were The Circumstances Behind The Plane Crash Teddy Was In?.......
Listening to some of the remembrances of him yesterday - I thought I heard that the plane crash he was involved in happened right after some critical 'civil rights' legislation. After I heard that I couldn't help but think that maybe this plane crash was a failied attempt to Wellstone him. I can imagine that there were a lot of people in the country that weren't happy with the passage of 'civil rights'.

Has there ever been any speculation of this?

1. Wouldn't be at all surprised if the bastards who killed his brothers
Or at that time, had killed JFK, thought Teddy (as a senator) would be the Kennedy brother most likely to make the next run for the Presidency, so they decided to take a "pre-emptive strike" against him. And when that failed, they went back to the more direct approach in 1968, when Bobby was running for election. :evilfrown:

in a small plane, and someone decided to check out the plane pre-flight, and found some mechanical problems, allegedly not "sabotage" ...

on edit, checked and found this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x820056

3. Here is a link

Amid all the discussion of Sen. Edward Kennedy's legacy, his failed efforts to win the White House, and ruminations about "the Kennedy curse," there is also this: a long-ago episode in which he escaped that curse, and perhaps learned some lessons along the way.

On June 19, 1964, just seven months after his brother John had been assassinated in Dallas, Ted Kennedy came close to dying, himself. He was badly injured in the crash of a small plane while campaigning for re-election to the Senate in Massachusetts. The experience changed him.

He was 32. He had won his seat just two years before in a special election. Now he was flying from Washington to West Springfield, Mass., for the state's Democratic convention, where he was to be renominated by acclamation. But June 19 was an important day, with the Senate passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and it was evening before he could leave Washington.

Young Senator Was Changed by Plane Crash Just 7 Months After JFK's Death

In a way, Ted Kennedy was lucky to have lived as long as he did.

5. It was just an unfortunate crash...bad weather and less than perfect judgment by the pilot.
I have never heard of any suggestion of conspiracy (and I was very active in the aviation community even back then...I had previously flown him and Bobby both in my planes)
