I'm so happy to see the video section on the front page filling up with film of the celebration of Senator Kennedy's life tonight, replacing noxious clips from Glen Beckkk. I know it's good to keep an eye on adversaries, but come on....it was a fantastic tribute to Teddy.

to watch McCain walk off the stage away from Vicki Kennedy. Cripes - what a faux pas if it wasn't intentional. God almighty, what a crappy president he would have made.

2. He was the only flat note in the whole symphony |
|
that was Teddy's brilliant wake.
What on earth possessed him to ignore Vicky Kennedy? I have never in my life seen anything quite so shocking at such an event...........................

8. Tangerine - I'm from AZ and I am no McCain fan but remember he has melanoma |
|
and realizes he may be closer to Kennedy in more ways than one. He is also a man who does not seem to be able to control his emotions. Thank God he is not our president.

9. I've had melanoma which was successfully removed by surgery. It's my |
|
understanding that McCain's have been removed surgically as well. If surgery wasn't successful, they do (although I don't know why since it's rarely successful) sometimes treat with chemo, radiation, etc. I don't think McCain is undergoing chemo (he doesn't look like it), so I don't think he technically HAS melanoma.
Early detection is key because surgery is the best way to eliminate it (and has to be done before it gets into the blood system). I'm guessing McCain is checked frequently by very good specialists. So you may not need to pity him for living with melanoma, because I don't think he is -- any more than I am.

10. My husband died of melanoma and subsequent radiation poisoning. It was horrible |
|
to watch that poor man suffer so badly before he died. For him, death was a blessing!!!

11. I'm so sorry to hear that! When I had it -- 20 years ago -- if you didn't get it |
|
all during surgery, that was it. I THINK I read where they gave radiation to help with the pain??? How bizarre is that? Is that why your husband had radiation, or were they trying to stop the spread of the cancer? I was surprised to read recently that they are doing chemo, radiation and immunotherapy these days. I can't help but wonder what the success rate is. It's my understanding that if it gets into the bloodstream, nothing can stop it.
Again, I'm so sorry about your husband and how he suffered. And YOU -- I know how painful it is to see a loved one in that condition.
And you're right, he's not in pain any longer.

12. Then he had no business speaking - |
|
if he was unable to extend even the most basic of courtesies to the grieving widow - as in opening his remarks by greeting her, which he did not do - then he should have begged off.
I am no fan of his, and I give great latitude to people's frailties. I am as imperfect as the next person, but I also do not do hurtful things, and what John McPOW did to Mrs. Kennedy tonight was hurtful and crude. There were a lot of people speaking who were closer to Teddy than McPOW was, but they managed to be professional and human at the same time.
I appreciate your remarks, and I cherish you for them, the generosity of your spirit, but I can cut McPOW no slack on this one. He was boorish, and a blemish on the whole affair, which, happily, sailed on in spite of his thuggish and selfish behavior.
Thank god he's not our President, but, more than that, thank god he's not my husband.................................

his wife's $$$ bought it all for him, and he's done nothing good with it.
Yet, Teddy dies.

6. I agree. This has become Glenn Beckkk Underground. And I don't buy... |
|
this "keeping an eye on adversaries". I think his producers troll these sites to drive up his ratings. We need focus people. It's one thing to keep an eye on our elected officials, but it's quite another to hang on the every word of idiots like Beck, Hannity & Limbaugh. We give them far too much time & attention to these assholes, which is what keeps progressives off our game.

15. this isn't even an emotional REACTION |
|
it's unmoored negative emotion--hate, anger, fear--which is then directed by spinmasters against arbitrary targets, which can be switched without a trace it's not that lefties are unemotional (just ask the hippies--or the iodine-blooded accountant ticktockmen running Vietnam that they fought), or even that they find something material to get angry about and THEN get angry: it's that their anger is not some arbitrary force that is able to rove from hot topic to hot topic on only a rumor or a demagogue (why yes, I know who Herbert Marcuse is, why do you ask? ;))
