Fox Wont Fire Glenn Beck (Best article I Have Ever Read on Faux News)
http://blog.buzzflash.com/node/9298

Glenn Beck is here to stay -- as far as Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch are concerned -- far into the future. It would take an abrupt end to the largely FOX-led right wing hysteria to disappear before you will see Beck canned. And that won't be happening anytime in the forseeable future.

That's due to many reasons. I'll try to enumerate a few:

* Beck is becoming an increasingly key factor in inciting the hateful mobs, and his seemingly crazed incivility and jaw-dropping antics that we find abhorrent are exactly what FOX finds valuable in him. He's breaking away with record audiences in a non-prime time spot, rising recently to surpass Hannity's audience. In fact the brilliant boycott led by ColorofChange.org is giving him more publicity and driving more confused, television-fed simple minded white Americans to his program.

1. Fox isn't a commercial venture. It's a cult, like the Moonie Times.
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 03:37 AM by leveymg
Loss of revenues and the bottom-line isn't the point. Fox is losing money, but Murdoch and his backers - the Wahhabist Saudi monarchy - will continue to subsidize so long as there's political advantage and payoff to feeding "simple-minded white Americans" (loved that line) that sort of propaganda.

Foreign ownership of major media should be banned. The media conglomerates should be broken up.

37. The GOP is a religious/suicide cult
I work with a republican baptist minister with whom I discuss religion from time to time. He hasn't a clue where Christianity starts and GOP talking points end. Christianity and the GOP's ideology of greed are one in the same and interchangable, in his mind.

The GOP is a Christianity based cult where acquisition of money has replaced god as the object of adulation. The Christianity part serves to justify the greed and their hatred.

Money is more important to republicans than the survival of humanity, justifying their scientific denial (global warming), and their love of war, which is a religious/commercial venture.

They are essentially anti-Christians.

2. And driving a lot of non-supporters also to see what he'll say next.

I wouldn't assume that all of his watchers agree with him at all. If he has more numbers, it's because we are now watching to see what he'll say next.
Judging by the advertisers pulling out from under him, I think people watch (or tape) his show just so they can say how terrible it all is. I won't watch the youtube videos because it shows up as another tick in his "viewership".
The subhuman is insane.

I suggest we all stop watching the youtubes and absolutely turn the tv to something more realistic or productive.
Only then will his REAL numbers show up.... and they won't be hyperinflated.

5. It's All About The Eyeballs
I posted about this several days ago. The boycott is a good thing, but it won't get Dreck off cause he's the attention the boycott and the outrage is drawing is turning into gold for Newscorp. They're getting higher ratings that they are taking to the bank...one of the few areas of Newscorp that is making money. Beck may be losing advertisers but there are others who are filling the spot and the overall boost to the ntworks numbers means they're asking more for commercials in other shows as well. The advertising agencies that do most the buying only look at the numbers, not at the content and if they see a sharp rise in viewership or large numbers at a specific time or demographic, they'll buy big.

8. That is why I emailed the BBC after I read the article on
Teh Morlocks attacking the BBC as unfair competition.

I told them that if they allowed him Teh Morlocks to get away with the attacks, their country would have non-stop Glenn, turn the crazy up to 11, Beck and Sean, pals around with white supremacists and anti-Semites, Hannity lying, hectoring and fear-mongering the illiterati in their nations.

I worded it differently, but I made no bones about that family being evil, power and money hungry at the expense of a nation.

22. Van Jones is a great guy.
Years ago, when he was working on the campaign of a candidate for CA governor, I exchanged several emails with Van. I was being cranky but accurate, Van was a lesson in communications, direct, honest and utterly unflappable. He won my vote the hard way. He is without a doubt one of the best and most courageous political activists of our time, and let me just say clearly not in any way a racist nor any other form of bigot. Van is a good man and I was thrilled that he got a post in the administration. The fact that he's being trashed by Beck is just further evidence that Van is righteous.
I would in fact vote for Van Jones, work for Van Jones, and anything he has to say will always get my instant and complete attention.

It's true, we hate Beck and we don't have much respect for his followers. The reasons are pretty easy to find out, if you leave the echo chamber and go to the source when you want to check facts.

24. It might be a better question to ask if FOX will survive Murdoch?
The old boy is 79 years old by my calculation (born March 11, 1931). One wonders how FOX will fare once he dies; my guess is it will water itself down to mirror CNN and then the two of them will consume themselves like two snakes eating each other tail-first.

30. Will O"Reilly's ego survive Beck?
As Beck pulls in a larger and larger audience of nutcases, he will become the Fox headliner. He'll be featured in more of the advertising, he'll be quoted on more of the other networks (this is already happening on Olbermann's worst person in the world segment). And he will eventually be rewarded for his efforts with a big contract and other perks. The other Fox douchebags, like Hannity and O'Reilly wele be reduced to bit player, Neil Cavuto status. "The Factior" will no longer be much of a factor at Fox. Look for a meltdown at that point, with internal back stabbing and trash talking among the piggies at the network.

33. FOX News is the biggest Propaganda Machine in the history of the United States!
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 09:27 AM by 1776Forever
There is no shame - no boundaries - it is the Blackwater of all media whores! It spews out hatred and lies that boggle the enlightened mind! All this in the name of "free speech"! It is set to come on in thousands of businesses across the US. And it leads in demographics among younger viewers in July 2009 per wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_News_Channel

In July 2009, FNC continued its cable news lead in ratings, but still trailed CNN in cumulative audience. It was not only beating CNN and MSNBC combined, but showing the most growth in the younger demographic. In the 25 to 54 demo, the network was up 48% in total day, and up 70% in primetime, compared to July of 2008. Among basic cable networks, Fox News was ranked third for the month in prime time viewership behind only USA Network and TNT, with CNN and MSNBC lagging behind at 15th and 26th, respectively, while continuing to battle each other for third place in cable news.<35>

^ "July Ratings: Fox News Beats MSNBC & CNN Combined in Total Day and Prime — mediabistro.com: TVNewser". mediabistro.com. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/july_ratings_fox_news_beats_msnbc_cnn_combined_in_total_day_and_prime_122858.asp. Retrieved 2009-08-15.

................

What this shows me is that the younger rating groups are turning in for "entertainment" and not NEWS as we know. Beck is a side-show and pimp for hate filled maligning of all things Progressive. I don't think if every advertiser pulled out it would make any difference because FOX isn't going to let go of their golden monkey anytime soon.

And least we not forget the Telecommunications Act of 1996 during Clinton's Administration:

Analysis of The Telecommunications Act of 1996

By Fritz Messere, Associate Professor of Communication Studies at SUNY Oswego.
Faculty Fellow of the Annenberg Washington Program

http://www.oswego.edu/~messere/telcom1.html

The Act abolishes many of the cross-market barriers that prohibited dominant players from one communications industry, like telephone, from providing services in other industry sectors like cable. New mergers and acquisitions, consolidations and integration of services previously barred under FCC rules, antitrust provisions of federal law, and the Modified Final Judgment proceeding (see AT&T Consent Decree) will be allowed for the first time illustrating the belief by Congress that competition should replace other regulatory schemes as we enter a new century.

...........

Something to think about!

34. This misses the real reason....
Beck is a loss leader just like $0.99 soap at the grocery store.

Beck show is in non-primetime where ad values are relatively low however Beck hooks an audience early and they stay tuned after his show ends and primetime starts and the ads slots are far more expensive.

Hell they could make the Beck shows commercial free as long as:
a) he bring in a lot of viewers
AND
b) those viewers stay into primetime.

People who belong to religious cults are the BASE for the propaganda machine. They use people who are ripe for the picking, white supremacists and religious fanatics, to do their bidding. They use code language all the time to keep them on board with them.

The federal funding and tax exempt status has to be revoked on these violent cults now, along with boycotting all the sponsors of this propaganda machine====>pull the plug on them!!
