Anyone else listening to this hack job on healthcare on C-Span? |
|
The guests are a cardiac surgeon and administrator from an Alexandria, VA hospital. Peter is doing his best to put a good light on the medical profession and the hospitals. I am infuriated. The doctor declined to tell his income. Four percent of their patients are uninsured and being the angels they are they take care of them even though they don't pay. Yeah, right, they don't pay! They just are haunted for the rest of their lives for the bill or go bankrupt and/or lose their homes, etc. I'm about to blow a blood vessel!

1. C-Spin has been pushing the corporate line on healthcare. |

Notice how they interview the administrator and the surgeon; two of the highest paid at the doctor end with the most to lose financially.

2. Brian Lamb did a one-on-one with one of those guests, John Garrett. |

Very interesting! I think he's probably a Republican, but I respect what he has to say (as in, I Listened Carefully). Particularly noteworthy is his complaint about Medicare reimbursement rates and how providers "must" inflate their charges to try to get the rest of their money from the for-profit health insurers. http://www.c-spanarchives.org/library/index.php?main_page=product_video_info&products_id=288594-1

3. I thought it was interesting that the doctor is not a member of the AMA. |

Yeah...the providers "must" inflate their costs to unltimately support those making their livings off us. Also, interesting that the doctor would not tell Steve, in answer to a caller's question, his salary. Must be something to hide.

4. I watched it to. I remember that comment as well. |

I agree with some of what he said and disagree with some. But same as everything, everyone has their own opinion. Can't make everyone happy.
I did find it interesting that he mentioned the fact of raising the rates on insurance companies to make up the difference of what medicare pays.
I also found it interesting that he mentioned the fact that the equipment used for health care will go down hill with a public option that is the same as medicare. He stated that without the money that it costs to care for someone coming in, something has got to give.
