Memo to Obama and Congress... |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-01-09 01:12 PM by ReverendDeuce
Your sliding poll numbers do not mean you should meander further towards the middle.
Your sliding poll numbers are not an indication that your constituents want you to just slow down a bit.
Your sliding poll numbers indicate that the voters are tired of continued milquetoast governance.
That is all.
Scenario: You promise huge change, big ideas, and the means to get there! You win, your party that went along with you wins, and you control the whole board. Then you get in office, but now your poll numbers are dropping!
What has caused the numbers to drop?
A. People didn't really like your ideas, but they voted you in. They actually wanted very watered down versions of your proposals. When your poll numbers drop, it means you've not watered them down enough.
B. People loved your ideas and believed you'd deliver. When you don't, they get irritated. Your poll numbers show this accordingly.
I have to ask... what the hell is going on in DC? Is there some kind of intelligence vacuum that is completely inescapable?

1. To improve Obama's poll numbers... |
|
End the war in Afghanistan for starters. If you think Obama's numbers are weak wait till America starts counting the body bags in Afghanistan.

2. I'm inclined to disagree... |

But I have no evidence to support that. It's a gut feeling regarding America's historical attitude towards pacifism when we're trying to tame our own beast. But again, that's just me.
