Computers can be so damn tricky!!! Really it was all a tech glitch...
(Glitch...now where have I heard that cute word before?)

From the press conference:

DANA PERINO: "But there was a conversion sometime between 2002 and 2003 to convert people that were using Lotus Notes when we first arrived to Microsoft Outlook. And I know that the tech people worked to get us all transferred over. We had to save our Word documents and all to make sure that they weren't lost in that transition.

I don't have a specific number for you. Again, I wouldn't rule out that there were a potential 5 million emails lost, but we'll see if we can get to you. If it was 5 million, I think that, again, out of 1,700 people using email every day, again, there was no intent to have lost them."

Ooo-kaaay. For humor sake, let's just say that covers the time until 2003. Well, what happened to the rest of the missing emails? This is pretty weak.

2. Some poor techie is going to get blamed for this!
There is a tape somewhere, I know there is. Just like Watergate, they'll find it.

3. the WH is trying to use "tech jargon" to claim ignorance and confuse us
but we have people in the private sector (and a few of us normal folks) who can crack through all of this "comfusing computer voodoo". I still say that the emails exist somewhere unless they have overwritten them already. I wonder how many terrabytes the gwb43.com servers can hold. I'll say it again and again, dont just subpoena the emails, subpoena the servers.

5. If I am not mistaken both Lotus Notes and
Microsoft Word allow you to download your emails to your own computer and thus bypass any programs that automatically delete them from the server. I have heard records managers talk about the problem of email retention (rather than deletion)in environments with that kind of individual control. It is likely, therefore, that even without forensic recovery there's alot out there on personal computers.

6. Who cares about their #@$@# excuses?
They are federal employees, they are conducting official business, there are regulations on how to conduct those business. They need to show the paper trail, period. I don't care if their dog ate their e-mail, if they don't produce e-mail records then they have broken a bunch of federal statues on how to conduct official government business. That alone is enough for a bunch of people to be either indicted, fired, or prosecuted: or a combination of all three.

And these were the people who cried to high heavens because Clinton fired some travel agency staff and did a shoddy real state transaction? Jesus, talk about holding themselves to a different standard.

I'm sure that the RNC has lots of conversations over how to convert people.

Hell, the government is shot through with Regent University graduates. I'm sure they are very busy trying to convert people.
