HMMM VA Users: Male, Younger, Veterans, Less Educated,Divorced and Smokers
Before the Article let me say (BULLSHIT)

Seattle-- Veterans in Washington state who use the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs were more likely to be male, younger, less educated, divorced and smokers.

A study published in the journal of Rehabilitation Research and Development compared characteristics and causes of deaths in 62,080 Washington veterans who did not use VA HEALTH CARE SERVICES FIVE YEARS BEFORE DEATH.

The researchers also found that both female and male veterans who used VA health care were more likely to die from alcohol-and or drug-related causes.

First you know I work for kids coming home less educated NO WAY .DIVORCED YES BECAUSE OF PTSD. Drinking yes Why hell if you saw what they did you would drink too. Drugs ??? in my mind only seen two or three. This is the way the VA covers its butt.

1. Yes. They're trying to make them . . .
look like undesirable people.

It isn't going to work.

2. When I worked at the VA, the alcoholism rates were staggering
and that was a full 20 years ago. The Vietnam cohort would occasionally come in with substance abuse issues, but every war's vets had issues with alcohol at a much greater percentage than the national population.

War destroys people, people who get caught in one as well as people who fight it. We have to end wars of corporate convenience. If we send our kids to fight, we'd better have the wolf in the process of crossing the doorstep.

(I learned a very valuable skill there, how to spot the drinkers before they went into DTs.)

4. The other category
is those who don't come home alive. PBS Newshour tonight said that the death rate among American troops has risen 20 percent since the "surge" began.
