The biggest health care lie
A personal mandate will make people's premiums go down.
That is not the point. The point is to slow the growth in the cost of premiums. This is a necessary consequence of A FOR-PROFIT HEALTH INSURANCE INDUSTRY. The only sane solution is a single-payer social health insurance program everybody pays into.

1. eventauuly I think we will see an NHS here
but it will take some time as the health care insurance industry needs to be vanquished first.

3. The profits are ridiculous but so too are the costs.
I hope the bill addresses both issues.

4. You're right but when the sane solution isn't realistic then whats next?
If you can't get the votes or overwhelming public support then you have to move on and get going in the right direction, even if it is just the best of poor options.

5. I'm just stating what torques my shorts
The LIE that is repeated over and over on DU, that people's costs will go down. It pisses me off. I understand that the plan the President outlined last night is the best that he thinks he can get. It's still not good enough.

7. OF COURSE it is, but we aren't going to see it.
Obama is giving the insurance companies 50 million captive wallets.
