What I think is the truth about Joe "You Lie" Wilson. |
|
The RNC put him up to it. It was scripted. His job was to create a distraction from the speech, to have the media all tied in knots over his outburst so nobody would be talking about the speech or health care or anything but the outrageous outburst.
It was supposed to be like the Professor Gates question, overshadowing a major speech with a media storm. It almost worked.
When it backfired the RNC cut Joe loose and told him to apologize. That's why he looked like a whipped puppy making his statement about the apology. He looked like he was gonna' cry! The RNC promised him he'd be a hero but it fell apart and Joe became a zero standing by himself.

1. I agree that it was scripted - |
|
but I don't agree that he's become "a zero standing by himself."
Hardly.
I expect he's now the darling of the rightwingnuts, and, like Joe the Plumber - another novelty act, he'll do very well in this sordid spotlight.
My prediction is that he'll also get re-elected quite easily, despite the mountains of money that have dropped into his opponent's till.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the American electorate, especially when the politician in question was Strom Thurmond's protege..............................

6. Oh yeah, the birthers and deathers and the ninthers will rally to him, |
|
but I'm not so sure his re-election will be that easy. I understand he won with 53% of the vote and outspent Miller 2:1.
We can always hope . . .

10. Yes, but that was 2008. |
|
There was another name on the ballot, someone a whole *lot* of people wanted elected. And that person won't be on the ballot in 2010.

2. I was thinking much along the same lines. I really don't think it was at all "spontaneous." |
|
All the little GOPiggies had their little signs and their "proposal." This was planned, but it came off as lame and not the "defining moment" they had hoped.
They screw up everything. They can't even heckle right!

... I can easily imagine the reaction to his "spontaneous outburst" having gone in a different direction. It worked in the town hall meetings so why not here, in front of a national audience?

4. Of course it was planned... |
|
...and it basically worked.
The wingnuts are energized. They get to catapult their spew all over the airwaves today under the guise of discussing Wrong Way Wilson. The media is 24/7 bloviation mode. DU is filled with endless Wilson wanking.
Mission Accomplished...

5. I think it was scripted because the people around him |
|
did not react, it was like they were expecting it. Everyone else just sat there as if it were business as usual.

7. Meh.....EVERYBODY is talking about health care reform.....right or wrong.... |
|
this is a little set-up side-show, to be sure, but that in NO WAY will stop the momentum.
And, uhm, Wilson's opponent, Rob Miller, is now almost at $750,000 in campaign contributions in the last 36 hours.....$10/$20 at a time mostly.....that's a LOTTA people angry at what wilson did!
I'd bet most of those people don't even know one whit about Rob Miller....these people who are CLEARLY SPEAKING WITH THEIR WALLETS to support Miller are saying "THEY DON'T WANT JOE WILSON". Joe Wilson broke the "public decorum/trust" .... he jumped the shark.
Stick a fork in him - wilson's done.
What worrys me now is, "who is Rob Miller"? (I honestly don't know).

I really think that you are right. Since they all seemed to have a part to play with pamphlets, walking out, tex ting and anything else they could come up with in their tiny little brains. It really makes sense. They did manage to take up a great deal of time today showing that tape and his picture everywhere.

14. Wrong. The better tactic would be to make the GOP admit |
|
what they are actually demanding is that immigrants be allowed to die/go untreated even in an emergency.
That's what they are dancing around and all pissy about. They know there are no subsidies but they really want to punish these people by allowing them to die in direct violation of the Hippocratic oath and any shred of morality.
This has nothing to do with this bill at all.

guess Obama is going to ignore it and march forward as planned. The minor day-to-day distractions have never seemed to trip him up.

13. Not sure about this one. He's an ass either way though. I have no doubt that the apology was |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-11-09 02:34 AM by Parker CA
forced after Rahm got in the faces of the pukes seconds after the speech was over. He didn't look like he was f-ing around, and the glare/non-verbal response from Obama was perhaps not what the GOP thought the comment would elicit if it was in fact planned.
What I heard on television today was the Dems supporting Obama's plan, the talkers curious about opinions on the disgraceful comment, and the pukes attempting to justify the behavior of an absolute idiot who encapsulates everything about their party.
If it was planned, I think it backfired big time. Sure, it will play to their extreme base, but no other group will support that kind of nonsense. On top of that, Miller has raised nearly $750k in just more than a day and will likely hit $1 mil sometime tomorrow. This cannot be how they hoped things would play out.

I would love it if it turned out that 9 other Congressmen all told him that they were going to join in and they sat on their hands and let him fall on his head by himself.
