LA has had its turn, actually twice, and Chicago has never had a turn.

3. Anyone Looking To Rent A House???? ROFL |

As one who lives in the Chicago area, I've got mixed feelings.
The civic booster in me thinks this is great, but then I could think of $500 million better uses for that money than putting on a two week TV show that's gonna mess up the city. However, if any city can pull this off, Richie Daley sure can.

5. Here's Hoping You Get Your Wish |

As long as I don't have to deal with the construction or traffic...and I'm about 40 miles from where the main venues would be...similar to the distance from East Brunswick to Flushing Meadows. I'm near a couple of arenas that I'm sure would be used, but other than that I doubt my life will be disrupted.
Actually Chicago is well suited for this...it's centrally located that works well both for people wanting to travel to the games and for television (Central is prefered vs Pacific) and the city already has plenty of hotel rooms and other accomodations. We won't have to sandblast half the city like Beijing is doing...and the transportation system inside the city wouldn't really have to be modified. No knock on my second fave city, LA...but nyeh nyeh
Cheers...
:hi:

Richie is about to be coronated again for another 4 years...meaning he'll surpass his old man. He was born in 1942...makes him 65 now and he'll be 74 in 2016...still younger than McCain is now. There's no term limits in Chicago...dynasties have always been the rule...and Richie's like his old man...able to steer clear of the scandals. I suspect that if he stays healthy, he'll be in charge in 2016.
