1. Well I started watching it last Saturday night
I didn't realize it was so long...I got through the first hour and looked at the length and had to put it away for another day...

2. Great film. Great story. Great take on history.
Plus, all the truth it contains can be deciphered by those who know.

Matt Damon as Ed Wilson.

Like "JFK," it's a dangerous film.

Ted Shackley, Poppy's right arm.

3. I am watching it right now.
My husband picked it up yesterday.

Having trouble keeping the volume adjusted. It gets loud, so we turn it doen, then they start whipering again, so we have to back up and listen.

Interesting return to the forties through sixties and the early CIA.

13. Yeah, wow, almost 3 hours? I was tired, but it didn't seem as long
as some other long flicks. The story was very engaging, and I liked how it all came together at the end. The stuff about Skull & Bones was fascinating and creepy -- I never knew it would be that different.

Wilson was such a lonely character. His patriotism and devotion to work and keeping up his family name superceded everything else. Edward's father's weakness had skipped one generation (Edward) and then manifested in Edward's son.

I thought the choice of the actor playing his son was a bit odd. I thought he didn't look like either his mother or father, but his acting was great.

Good movie.

5. What about The Departed - based on real characters?
I can't wait to see Good Shepherd - it sounds like a WASP Mafia movie from what I can tell. Perhaps I equate the two because of Damon, in any case:

Does anyone realize that the Departed was loosely based on Whitey Bulger - who's brother was a long time President of the Mass State Senate? Amazing that a crime family could reach to that level of government.

Or not, maybe that's not amazing at all but routine.

6. Holy cow.....
I watch a lot of movies and this flick was seriously too long.
Good story but ruined by the length.
After awhile I just wanted it to be over.

7. I liked it, the length didn't bother me, but it was a tad confusing
I might have to watch it again, there were two characters I couldn't keep straight. you don't need that info to get the underlying message, however.

8. Thank you, too. I think I Want to watch it again, and want to watch for
parallels to what's going on now. I did note one or two...

9. loved it
Watched The Departed and The Good Shepard in the same day.

Wish they had aged Damon a bit more in Shepard to keep decades straight...had to look ay glass frames to keep from getting confused.

Watched Babel as well same day (hubby and I had the flu)...3 hours of watching people with the poorest judgement making maddening mistakes...don't recommend.

10. Took me 4 hours to watch it.
As noted above, volume discrepancies forced me into replaying numerous parts.

I liked it, really liked it.

My viewing tip:
Do NOT view this DVD with folks who enjoy chatting. I know.

11. I give it a B plus.
Good. The CIA still has yet to shake off the elitist rich boy bias.
