1. I'd like to believe I do
Pissing off conservatives is one of my hobbies, but those people are psychotic. They could easily harm him. This man has balls of steel.

2. this was posted the other day
I commented that it looks exactly like the de-segregation days when black students had to be escorted past screaming bigots just to go to school.

3. You don't need Stones to walk through a throng of Biological Blobs
Overgrown 6th graders who can't think their way out of a wet paper bag.

Teabaggers are, at their core, a bunch of scared sissies.

9. I disagree that "you don't need stones" to do what this man did.
The Teabaggers and other assorted sociopaths gathered on the Mall on 9/12 did not come to "think". They came to bay in unison at the forces of decency and common sense. They were, and are, ignorance personified and ignorance is a monster capable of disembowelling "thinking" people without hesitation or regret. They are proud of their raw unthinking power and DARE us to try to reason with them.

The gentleman with the sign has balls the size of grapefruit.

16. You give those from "The Night of the Living Dead" credibility
I don't.

I refuse to be afraid of anyone.

Especially nut job blobs from the right wing.

To be so afraid would be a big waste of my time.

5. I can't watch videos
but if it is about confronting teabaggers---you bet. While I am a peaceful person, I am capable of handling myself.

6. We should at the very least have signs in our yards.
I'm seriously considering doing this over the weekend.

12. Even better-call/write your delegation.
Signs are nice, but your message isn't going to be seen by the individuals that are crafting the bill and voting on it.

I hate the phone, but this pissed me off enough to pick it up and call my delegation. If I can do it, anyone can.

And yes, I love that video of the counter-protester. He is awesome!

7. Wish I had known---
This same man was at the "vigil" in Senate Park the next day, September 13th in support of Health Care Reform. He carried the same sign.

I wish I had known what he'd done the day before. I'd have loved to express my admiration and appreciation.

Sure, why not?

He didn't even get his finger bitten off.

Just the same, props for smiling the whole time.

I'm not sure whether it took great sleuthing or not to ferret me out, I've had telephone calls from all over the country and emails from all over the world. It really is hard not to tear up reading gushing praise --- a little like overhearing one's funeral, I suspect, but the fact of the matter is . . . oh, go listen to Yule Brenner's speech at the end of the Magnificent Seven. Or think, single mother with a child who gets a terrible diagnosis and no insurance, yet keeps working, driving the others to day care . . .
no need to get maudlin, you get the picture. The reality is that I talked to a friend of mine before I went, and we discussed what I needed to do. This sounds so hokey, but my focus was Gandhi. I didn't really think anyone there would try to hurt me, and I knew that the others were intelligent enough to stop her if she hit me. But more than that, I knew that any blow struck at me would hurt them 1,000 times more than it could ever hurt me. The damage it would do to the self-esteem of the thousands in their movement that saw it would be sooooooo much more painful to them than it would to me. With that confidence, I had very high faith that nobody would do me any real damage. As to the police escort --- well, you can't arrange for that. The video was the final five minutes of a 30 minute walk. I did not know the two officers at the beginning of the video were there, so I really don't know how far along I was when they arrived, but the other 4 or 5 or 6 arrived later. Weren't they spectacular? Not that I'm under any illusion that being an old fat white guy didn't help in that regard. But that you so much for your kind thoughts. If you'd like to know how I would like to be honored, I'll tell you: go to www.my.barackobama.com and that will put you into Organizing for America. From there, sign up and plug in your zip code and you'll be directed to events near you. Do that for me, and we're more than square. Edward Kimmel Takoma Park

14. If I had an
escort from the good people of the DC Metropolitan Police Force, I'd be there in an instant with bells on...as well as a pair of tight hot pink spandex leggings and red white and blue suspenders over my legalize it t-shirt. On my head, I'd probably wear one of those big Uncle Sam top hats with the words "Evil socialist Medicare for all" superimposed on it. Maybe I'll wave around one of those rainbow confederate flags (and really piss them off) and blast speakers playing "Happy Days Are Here Again" on a loop. Oh, and sparklers,...got to have sparklers.

Hm...on second thought, I might just need the National Guard for that one.

Gotta love these morans shouting "NO PUBLIC OPTION, NO PUBLIC OPTION,"...What's next, "NO PUBLIC SCHOOLS!, & NO PUBLIC ROADS!, & NO PUBLIC UTILITIES!, & NO POLICE DEPT! & NO FIRE DEPARTMENT! & NO PUBLIC MILITARY!. NO GOVERNMENT ADVOCACY FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD! BLACKWATER FOR EVERYTHING! USA! USA! USA!

15. what I find amazing is all these people essentially supporting the insurance companies . . .
that are screwing them left right and sideways . . . it's pretty apparent that most of them don't know what the hell they're talking about, and that they're just parroting the junk spewed by the Rush Limbaughs and Glen Becks of the world . . . stupid is as stupid does, I guess . . .
