What's Going On With Ashcroft In Relation To Abramoff?......

I thought I saw something go by on a screen crawl on one of the cable news channels - but didn't hear anything else reported. Is Ashcroft in trouble?

1. As I recall,

an aide to Ashcroft, one who was intimately involved in just about every smarmy deal Abramoff cooked up, is on trial. Or has entered a plea.

Sorry - I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the details, but that might be what you saw. The link - Abramoff/Ashcroft - continues to bubble, and my understanding is that Jack Abramoff is singing his damn head off in hopes of getting his sentences reduced. So, the Justice Department is doing a lot of work on this, but moving very carefully and very slowly.

I suspect that might have something to do with why Tom Delay hasn't yet been brought to trial, because, otherwise, his failure to have been tried already totally confounds me. If he pleads that his right to a speedy trial has been denied, and his case gets tossed, I won't be surprised. THAT one has me perplexed for days...............................
