Was good to see and hear Marian Wright Edelman
with Blitzer.

We do not hear or see much about her... age may be a factor.

I remember old news clips, perhaps from the Eyes on the Prize program, when she led either JFK or RFK into the poorest neighborhoods of the south and became a champion of children. She many have held an official post in JFK administration.

No doubt, there are many DUers who know a lot more about her and can fill in my blanks. But it is good to remember the leaders of yesterday who got us where we are now.

1. A genuinely glorious woman. She looks great, too. I guess that's what living a
good life will do for you.

2. She was wonderful...
It was terrific to hear her strong, gentle voice.

3. She was the speaker at my stepson's Tulane graduation held in the Superdome
That was about 5 years ago. She was absolutely terrific. Also a speaker was Lindy Boggs, in her 80s and articulate as she could be.

That was the year I came back to New Haven just in time for Yale's Commencement in which they gave George W. Bush an Honorary Doctorate of something. A bunch of us, including some Yalies, demonstrated outside of Old Campus with large signs.

I will always remember fondly the graceful Tulane graduation in contrst to the despicable Yale one!
