*That's* the jackass whining about being fiscally conservative? GTFO.

"By David Weigel 9/29/09 9:38 AM

Jennifer Yachnin reports this detail in a story on the relative personal wealth of senators.

Wealth in the chamber ranges from Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) — the richest Member of Congress overall — who tops the list with a minimum net worth of at least $167.55 million, to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), who registers a negative $40,000.

Yes, the fiscally conservative Democrat whose budget hawk nature has frustrated liberals on health care reform is, himself, in the red, having spent nearly a million dollars on a new house in D.C."

3. Heh. That might be contingent on making sure that a public option is killed, though.

4. He's probably already got a cushy lobbyist job all lined up
and during the interval where it's "illegal" to become a lobbyist (after he finally gets booted out of office), I'm sure he'll become a "consultant" to some "non-partisan" think tank, and will churn out inane works of fiction, masquerading as policy papers.

6. If he keeps on like he is now that may just be a lot sooner than he wants it to be.
I saw a pretty devastating ad about him on Rachel Maddow last night. He will have to contend with a Primary Challenge unless he changes his tactics..

8. He was just re-elected last fall
He isn't worried. Gotta figure this is his last term, his 'money dance' before a comfy retirement. The 'rat bastid'.

5. I'm pretty sure that campaign contributions aren't counted towards one's personal finances....
I think they have, like, laws about that or something.

10. After today's vote, I believe a lot of money went right to his personal account. Under the table,
brown envelopes, he gets rich because of his vote and paid off with cash and ranches in Montana.

9. This excludes the $1M dollar property he just bought, making his net worth at least $960,000.
"The exclusion of homes — Senators are not required to report properties that do not generate income, including vacation homes or part-time residences — can potentially skew the public perception of a lawmaker’s true wealth."
