What explains DeMint's support of the coup in Honduras? |
|
I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that he knows about them arresting people without charging them and the closing down of media opposed to the regime.
What explains his support?
Does he like the kind of stuff that the coup is doing? (Which would be just wrong)
Or is it because he sees the way Obama reacts to something, and decides to react in the opposite direction that Obama does? (Which would be incredibly dumb)

1. It may very well be an ideological stance with DeMint. |
|
He may or may not agree with authoritarian policies as far as crushing civil liberties go, but he very likely supports the Honduran dictatorship precisely because it isn't left wing on economic policy.
I doubt any interests in Honduras have donated extremely large wads of cash to DeMint recently, but I could be wrong on that score.

Or maybe he has a Latin lover like his fellow South Carolinian and he just needs an excuse for a little R&R.

The real question is why is the Pentagon going against the state dept and giving permission for DeMint to go when it was squashed by the state dept? Why is Gates over-riding the administrations policies and procedures?

He pines for the day when white-skinned people could own dark-skinned people
He wants a completely subjugated underclass to support his white ass in luxury and style
He can't yet have this in the USA, but loves it when one of our neighboring countries fulfills his fantasy
