APF spokeswoman Becky Shay gives her office phone number to the local paper
Source: Big Horn County News

Hardin’s city hall, chamber of commerce, and school district’s offices were hit with a barrage of phone calls Tuesday after a nationally-syndicated talk-radio host claimed that APF is “running the town” of Hardin and that the town will soon be turned into an internment camp for 5,000 to 10,000 people.

... The APF’s spokesman, Becky Shay, also received quite a few calls and said she wanted the community to know that she’s available to address concerns that Hardin residents have. Her phone number is 665.7356.

She said the APF Web site was down for a short time Tuesday because a flood of job applications overwhelmed the company’s Web server.

1. Ms. Shays has more to worry about than the ringing of phones

APF is a scam and old Becky is caught right in the muck:

From the AP story, cited in the thread:

Entrepreneur behind Mont. jail has checkered past

California entrepreneur promising to revitalize rural Montana town has checkered past

MATTHEW BROWN
AP News

Oct 01, 2009 13:05 EST

Michael Hilton showed up in Hardin, Mont., last week, presenting himself as an economic savior, the man who would take over the town's $27 million jail — empty since it was built as a development project in 2007 — and provide 200 new jobs in the process.

He wore a military-style uniform, and as a gesture to local law enforcement offered up the use of three Mercedes SUVs.

But the man who styles himself as a military veteran turned private sector entrepreneur and a California defense contractor with extensive government contracts also has another image, and that one is provided by public documents and interviews with associates and legal adversaries...

If you search around you'll also discover that the Montana Attorney General is now investigating this con job.

3. "Spineless" said it best
"Every member of the town's city council or authority who was involved in this "negotiation" should resign in shame or be fired. What a bunch of clowns to sign-up for a 10 year contract with a person they know nothing about."

2. For extra entertainment, here's apparently this week's only LTTE

APF’s detractors are misguided

There is a big difference between critical analysis and mean-spirited criticism. So listen up all you nugatory naysayers. Unless you can state the facts and speak the truth you are nothing more than a rumor mill run amok. Could it be that with all your yakking about what they are doing that you have misrepresented the truth? What if APF are exactly what they say they are. Are you going to issue a public apology and acknowledge that you did not know what you were talking about? I'll bet not, you will probably just turn to more sarcasm, exaggeration, juvenility, and outright fabrication. Dale Carnegie once said, "Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do."

4. Here's part of an article
from the Billings Gazette from Sept. 18th.

Public Internet records show that the APF Web site is one of six hosted on a single Web server, including a site for Defense Product Solutions.

Both share the same double-eagle logo, and the same company, Purepoint Design, developed both Web sites. No one answered a call to Purepoint's office in Newport Beach, Calif.

A section of text on the Defense Product Solutions Web site matches word for word text found on Web sites for Allied Defense Systems and Defense Logistic Services, all promising a similarly exhaustive range of military products and services.

Public records for those companies and others with similar Web sites - including Defense Contracting and Consulting, and Worldwide Military Exchange - all show connections to Edward Angelino, a government contractor in Huntington Beach, Calif.

There's a WHOLE lot more to this story.

5. I know I'm handwringing but I wish there was another source.

I say that because Becky Shays wrote stories for the Billings Gazette about APF while she was in "negotiations" with him "them".

Her story about a "cop car prototype": http://www.billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/montana/article_9215c76a-a98d-11de-8127-001cc4c03286.html

6. Well, here's the ultimate tinfoil-hat theory about Becky Shays
Because she's such an intrepid journalist, she dug deep enough to discover that APF is really just part of a new reality show for Fox, where they pretend to take over a small Montana town to see how the local yokels react. They had to pay her $60k plus bonuses to keep her quiet until the truth is revealed.

No, I don't believe it either, but it makes as much sense as anything else in this whole senseless story.

9. Yeah, I read those.
Any company that makes a website with nothing but cut and paste jobs from other sites can't be but just so legitimate.
