JOHN AND ELIZABETH EDWARDS $53 MILLION DOLLAR DIVORCE

Elizabeth Edwards has finally had enough - she's threatened to divorce her cheating husband John and claim her share of their $53 million fortune!

The ENQUIRER has learned Elizabeth dropped the divorce bombshell after learning a former campaign aide is claiming Rielle Hunter, the mother of Edwards' love child, isn't the only woman he seduced on the campaign trail!

Furious at his betrayals, Elizabeth - still battling Stage 4 breast cancer - has vowed to destroy her husband of 32 years by disclosing everything she knows about his political career in divorce court, insiders say.

"Elizabeth had always sworn she wouldn't divorce John. But every person has a breaking point, and Elizabeth's friends believe she's reached hers," an insider told The ENQUIRER.

"Elizabeth made it clear to John that she will take him for everything he's got. She will divorce him and claim their $53 million fortune.

"Elizabeth knows every dirty little secret in her husband's political past. She's been his confidant for years, and she's always kept quiet. But now she's prepared to reveal all his secrets in open court."

Elizabeth's patience finally ran out when she learned about the scandalous claims in a tell-all book by her husband's former campaign aide Andrew Young, the married father of three who once claimed that he'd fathered Rielle's child in a bid to protect his boss.

"Elizabeth was read portions of Young's book proposal, and she flipped out," said the source.

"What really pushed her over the edge is Young's allegation that John had other affairs with women on the campaign trail.

"Elizabeth basically told John that if she found out that was true, she'd have to divorce him because then he'd be a 'serial cheater.'

"John claims Young's book is a pack of lies."

Yes, The Enquirer. Like it or not, they have been consistently right on this story.

25. The Enquirer hired up many, many investigative reporters
when newsrooms around the country were laying them off at the time of the OJ Simpson trial.

They're right more often than they are wrong.

The beginning of their being taken seriously, though, was when the NYT called them the "paper of record" during the OJ Simpson trial.

If they hadn't gone with this story we might've been calling John McCain president now.

If any posts should be moved to the Trash, it's those that still defend Edwards.

26. What do you suggest she do with the time she has left?
What would you do if your husband cheated on you, fathered a child with the other woman, then wasn't even man enough to claim that child as his own? How would you feel if you had to live through this on a national scale?

If she was a doormat, people here would assail her. She fights back, and they STILL assail her. What is it that you think she should have done?

I'm on her side. Nobody should have to live through this, especially while suffering with Stage IV breast cancer.

the best thing she can do with the time she has left is try to destroy her husband, her childrens father. I think if this is true and shes looking to get revenge then its a petty way to spend your last days.

She gave that man four beautiful children, and did nothing but support his ambitions her whole marriage.

I'm sure that she's crushed you don't approve of her life or what she feels she has to do with it.

instead of letting the girlfriend live high on the work of someone else's lifetime. I can see her point rather clearly. She probably isn't having a lot of fun in her remaining time anyway. Working to protect what is hers for her offspring makes a lot of sense.

33. if she dies everything they have goes to him
if she divorces him first and takes him to the cleaners, he will get whatever he needs for the kids, but the rest, every dime that she gets can go directly to the kids and not through John who for all we know may have another family and other paternity claims in the next few years.

in fact, Elizabeth could do more for her kids by taking him to the cleaners now than she could by staying with him and i'm talking financially.

The "Edwards Rumor" debunked.....

National Enquirer, Wonkette, bullshit bucket
by Jerome Armstrong, Thu Oct 11, 2007 at 04:15:18 PM EST

Rielle Hunter released the following statement through a spokesperson:

"The innuendoes and lies that have appeared on the internet and in the National Enquirer concerning John Edwards are not true, completely unfounded and ridiculous.

My video production company was hired by the Edwards camp on a 6 month contract, which we completed December 31, 2006.

When working for the Edwards camp, my conduct as well as the conduct of my entire team was completely professional.

This concocted story is just dirty politics and I want no part of it."

Just a total bullshit story.

NYT Public Editor: Sometimes, There’s News in the Gutter

Sometimes, There’s News in the Gutter
By CLARK HOYT
Published: August 9, 2008

The John Edwards “love child” story finally hit the national news media and made the front page of yesterday’s Times. For weeks, Jay Leno joked about it, the Internet was abuzz, and readers wondered why The Times and most of the mainstream media seemed to be studiously ignoring a story of sex and betrayal involving a former Democratic presidential candidate who remains prominent on the political stage.

They could ignore it no longer when Edwards, who had been running away from reporters for weeks, sat down with ABC News and admitted he had an extra-marital affair and lied repeatedly about it. He denied he fathered Rielle Hunter’s 5-month-old daughter, as the National Enquirer reported in December before the baby was born. Before Edwards’s admission, The Times never made a serious effort to investigate the story, even as the Enquirer wrote one sensational report after another: a 2:40 a.m. ambush by the tabloid’s reporters at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles after Edwards spent hours in a room with Hunter and her baby; an allegation of $15,000 a month in “hush money;” a grainy “spy photo” of him with a baby...

34.  She didn't.She actually had him barred from her house in 2007.
Andthe fact that she didn't like him was affirmed by the rest of the staffers. He was pushy and aggressive and manipulative. He was actually removed from Jim Hunts campaign for similar reasons. He got too "close" to candidates and tried to take over their lives. As I said, he talks about it in her book.As for JRE, he had a problem with the fact that Young didn't actually do anything to warrent "firing". He was just "overnice". JREe kept putting him in positions father and farther away from intimate contact.Even the other staffers admit that Young was very good at his job.

She needs some peace and calm..not a bunch of daily drama that drips out monthly/weekly/daily..

It's obvious that he did not/does not value their marriage, so why spend the time left to you , with a guy who's a total creep..

By all accounts, Rielle Hunter and John Edwards will pick up where they left off after Elizabeth dies. Which means that Rielle will get the marital assets -- and Elizabeth's children may get nothing.

Elizabeth needs to do this for her own kids.

Elizabeth Edwards is a DUer although she hasn't posted here since the election because of rudeness directed her way. I, for one, enjoyed her informative posts. I don't question that the National Enquirer has their facts right. It's the way they present their facts that is so heinous.
