Was watching Ken Burns' doc on National Parks and thinking how much America has lost...
in terms of people in power who actually fight for real ideals instead of corporate interests. Particularly I was watching the segment set during the 30s and 40s, FDRs presidency. Some of the things that they were able to accomplish often against immense pressure from the private sector just couldn't even be tabled today. It really is sad to see how far right western politics has swung :(

1. We're returning to the Gilded Age...
...but with more pervasive control over the population. Technology has provided the powers that be with greater distraction and indoctrination, more powerful spying and advanced weaponry.

3. When was the last time you ran into a Republican like Harold Ickes?
or even a Democrat for that matter.

4. Well Republican doesn't mean what it used too. I'm Canadian by the way. I was thinking....
when watching that documentary that Harold Ickes struck me as a left wing Dick Cheney. That's what America needs right now. A bull dog on the side of human and social rights for a change.
