However, I occasionally eat Sausage McMuffins. I enjoy that bloated/think you might die feeling after finishing up the meal.

9. Way too close, I've got 3 within 2mi from the house. |
|
But when I lived in VT, I lived 15mins to the closest store, 20mins to the nearest gas station or grocery, and 25mins to a fast food place. The first time I took my hubby up there, he asked, "how do you get your pizza delivered?" I said, "we place the order, tell them that where we live, they have it ready just as we pull up, we put it in the car under a blanket, drive it home, and its delivered." He stood in shock for a long time and still asked more about it later when I was away from my family. I told him living that far away from conveniences of crap food keeps you much healthier.. Normally, mom goes to the store once a week. Mostly, any "junk/ treat" food is gone first, and then anything else not bolted down until its "shopping night".
Now, I live in FL, I have a great meat market across the road from us, I have great choices in produce and organic venues... but I also have Golden Arches screaming at my child everywhere we went. His first 2 word he knew well, McDonald's and Walmart. (he's a step-son; his mom doesn't cook and love Walmart.. killed me because its a method of living I don't prefer.)

21. Visualizing the Distance to the Nearest McDonalds Restaurants |
|
http://infosthetics.com/archives/2009/09/visualizing_the_distance_to_the_nearest_mcdonalds_restaurants.html"Where The Buffalo Roamed" is a simple but persuading infographic illustrating the distance to the nearest McDonalds in the US. This project required a lot of data, retrieved by AggData, a seemingly unique company focusing on providing original sets of quality data of all kinds (ranging from theComplete List of Victoria's Secret Locations for $39 to the Complete List of XBox Games for free). The data used for the map consisted of a complete list of about 13,000 geolocated U.S. restaurants.

I can count the number of times on one hand that I have eaten there in the 22 years I have lived around here. There is another inside the SquallMart less than a half mile down the road. Never ate there, and I no longer patronize WalMart.
Just as bad, they built a Waffle House about three blocks from me last year. It's in a really idiotic place, and its patrons are exacerbating the traffic issues. There is another just two miles around the corner... Needless to say, my city's planners are morons.

49. 4 blocks, close enough that customers park in front of my house, and throw McD's trash on my lawn... |
|
I have a nice big shade tree in my parkway, and that's apparently an invitation to the McD's customers who want some shade, and modicum of privacy, and who aren't going to be encumbered with their post-prandial McD's refuse in their cars. And I am pissed!
I haven't yet actually spotted a customer tossing the refuse. I just keep coming upon the aftermath -- bags, cups, straws, ketchup-smeared wrappers, etc., just pitched onto my parkway and strewn about.
I'm so tired of this game, I'm seriously considering saving up the garbage for a month, then delivering it all to the local McD's front door -- returned to original owner. :grr:

So I'd have to say you have to travel about 9 blocks. Now if you want a taco truck it's just a few blocks away. Jack in the box, ten blocks and taco bell 8 blocks.
Now if you want to find a good grocery store or a bank then you have some driving to do. Although we do have a nice collection of loan shark fronts (payday loan, check cashing places), liquor stores, and smoke shops.
I'm not a big fan of the guy who said it, but he said it right; there are two Americas. The problem is, most of the one half never gets to see the other half.

There might be one closer but since we don't have a bridge over the river at that point it ends up to be much further because you have to double back to get to it. It's funny because we have at least four in town and their prices are all a little different. I know it's sad that I know that.

My wife and I drove past it for 2 years without noticing it until one of our patients pointed it out to us.
Needless to say McD's hasn't gotten money from me in decades, but then again I think their food sucks. I'd rather starve than eat there. And given that there are so many better alternatives ...

There is one at the end of my street and, oh, how I wish it wasn't there. My kids want Happy Meals every time we drive by. Needless to say, I don't go out that way too often. :)

I'm sure there are several within a few miles, but I couldn't tell you where. Nor do I have any inclination to find out. If I want a good hamburger, there's a local place about 5 blocks away that does real ones. Sure, they cost twice as much, but they're more than twice as good.

Where I live there are 5 within 1 mile of eachother and I am in the middle of this toxic waste swill. There were 6 three years ago . 4 are built right where gas stations used stand . One more oddity , in the drive through window (happened to be a captive passenger a few times) each one has a white sigh issued by the state of Calif that reads chemicals known to cause cancer and birth defects are in so many words present.

When they do whatever it is they do at the end of the night, the stench that fills the air could gag you. I don't know how anyone can eat at a place that puts out smell like that.

They are adjacent to the fuel stop that I'm parked at this evening; I'll wander over there in the morning for a cup of joe.
As noted above, Mickey D's coffee is miles ahead of the warm brown swill many restaurants will serve and pass it off as actually resembling coffee.

103. About 7 or 8 miles. I'm in the middle of a city |
|
and there are a bazillion independently owned restaurants within walking distance. It's fabulous. I'm not a fast food fan anyway, but it's great that if I want a burger I can find fifty delicious varieties nearby.

But I think that was around 50 years ago. I honestly can't remember if I've ever done so since. If I have, it was a very long time ago.

And it is right next to Arby's and Wendy's. My crazy daughter told me that one day that she went to McD's for their "way better fries", then directly to Wendy's for their chicken, and then swung thru Arby's for a Frosty...and brought all of the stuff home "for her lunch". I got nauseated just by her telling me.
